With regard to Flash, I've found Geoffrey's Adobe Flash Player Auto Updater to work very well on all of the Puppies I've used it on. Might it be better to use this instead? I've mainly used it Slacko 5.7.0 and the current Slacko 7 test builds including 6.9.6.4 and it's coped very well with the vario...

Flash URLs have changed again, the Adobe URLS bit in ~/.getflash/getflash-conf should now be as follows. ## Adobe URLs CHECKURL_32='://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/download/?installer=FP_11.2_for_other_Linux_32-bit_(.tar.gz)_-_NPAPI&sType=2737&standalone=1' CHECKURL_64='://get.adobe.com/flashpl...

Continuing to test the full install of Slacko64 6.9.6.4 on Merlin IV. In general it seems to be performing very well. Once I'd managed to get PPM to start on the earlier test session I installed Pidgin 2.10.12 from the slackware64-14.2-official repo using the auto install method. Later I ran the Upd...

PPM not loading on 64-bit 6.9.6.4

Testing Slacko64 6.9.6.4 on Merlin IV. The good news is that I've successfully set up a working Full Install on the usual ext4 partition and it's booted up fine every time so far - I'm typing this on it. I've found a problem with PPM, when I try to load it I get a red box saying "PPM is already...

Regarding the puppy saves, you have your stuff hidden somewhere. do you use the PSUBDIR boot param? This is a new thing. It doesn't look in the subdirectories in all partitions unless you specify where, to save time for those (most?) who don't want it to search everywhere, I think. http://www.murga...

Does full install work for you with Xenialpup64 7.0.7 and Xenialpup 7.0.4 ? I'm guessing both work but just to be sure. I've only tested it on Xenialpup64 7.0.7, it boots up fine as a full install. LiveCD boot also works without issue and managed to see the save files in sdb1/PuppyFiles when search...

Any thoughts about the issue I have with LiveCD boots not looking for the save files? When testing Puppy I usually boot from the CD and do some basic set up. I then copy the main SFS files from the CD to the PuppyFiles folder on sdb1 which is formatted NTFS and has my Windows XP install on. I prefer...

Testing 64-Bit Slacko 6.9.6.1 on Merlin, Core i5-4590, 8GB RAM, Radeon R9 270X. When booting from a LiveCD this version of Puppy is still incapable of seeing the save files or SFS files which are located in the usual location I put them which is at sdb1/PuppyFiles - sdb1 being a 160GB hard drive for...

Booted from LiveCD selecting the UEFI (FAT) entry for the DVD writer from the computer's boot device menu. Booted successfully in a desktop with the usual setup windows. I still don't like the default theme having the taskbar at the top, tried to use it like that last time and found it too weird. Sh...

For now I found a way to use my USB scanner in Slacko 5.9.3, but it's a bit troublesome. I have to run modprobe sg which loads the kernel module sg and everything is fine There's an issue where not all of the kernel modules are loading properly - I have the same problem with printing from a paralle...

01micko, Any news? Are you making any progress on getting this Slacko 6 past beta 2 status? Seems to me like this has stalled and nothing is being done to get to final release. He's commented before about being very busy with exams and stuff. As someone who's recently started a new full time job an...

Re: Parallel and serial ports on a modern PC

Basically I want to spend my money on something shiney and this would be an interesting thing to test since I have a working parallel port printer and some old-school serial devices, including a couple of Psion palmtops. OK, the card has arrived and it's installed and working nicely. I bought the P...

Re: Parallel and serial ports on a modern PC

Rather than spend the 30+ Euros for that card, would you consider another approach? If so PM me . Puppy may be able to provide another solution for you. Thanks for the offer but this is more in the category of "want" rather than "need" - I also have a networked colour laser prin...

There's also a PCI-Express version, which I'll probably go for. Model number for that is PEX2S5531P.

Still can't test parallel port printing on Merlin IV and my only Linux-capable machine with a parallel port is Zhaan, my K6-2 500 box, which can't run Slacko newer than 5.3.1 (IIRC). A solution is, however, at hand. I recently started a new job, and have decided to invest part of my first paycheque ...

OK, managed to set up a Full of Slacko 5.9.3 on Merlin IV. Seems to be working pretty well. Due to the lack of PAE Puppy can only see 3.5GB of the total of 8GB of RAM, which isn't a problem as I managed very nicely with 2GB on Merlin III (never did get the RAM to upgrade it to the maximum of 4GB tha...

How is it connected? There is an outstanding issue with parallel port printers in the current 32 and 64-Bit test builds of Slacko. Try typing the following at a command or terminal prompt:- modprobe ppdev modprobe lp Then try the procedure you normally use to set up the printer, including the instal...

Latest Grub4Dos config is v1.9.2 - see forum thread, which I have finally noticed lives in Advanced Topics -> Cutting Edge, which would explain why I can never find it!

New Core i5 setup pretty much sorted, will post a HardInfo report later. What's the best graphics driver for a Radeon R9 270X?
