Ok I found a relevant thread. But I've let my Linux skills fade terribly. I don't remember how to get to certain files. Feels like I've been brainwashed & all I remember is Windows. So I could use some help in baby steps please. It's step 2 I'm clueless about. http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/vi...

Now the theme color of my rt clk menu is green in color. Was that the JWM menu? You may have had a corrupted JWM configuration - in my experience normally when this happens the title bars and things turn red. For future reference it is almost always fixed by running fixmenus (and restarting JWM). I...

Thanks I started over. I like Puppy Linux. Format USB flash drive & install takes 5 minutes. But if I bork this incarnation in the same way, I'll try it.

Did you get any Puppy screen at all upon booting?

If not, I suspect you did not burn the .ISO but just copied the data. Critical difference.

[SOLVED] How do I get my taskbar icons back?

I was having a hardware problem that I though was a software problem. Mouse wouldn't move, stuck in center of screen. Just had to move to a different USB port. So I rebooted Puppy Lucid 5.2 a couple times, powered off a couple more times. All by way of CTL-Alt-Bckspc. Now the theme color of my rt cl...

I'm not a security expert in any measure of that word ... but here's something to think about: a) have you turned on puppy's firewall? b) are you behind a NAT router? If yes, GRC will probably be testing your router instead of your machine. cheers! That's gotta be it. I have a ATT wireless gateway ...

Weird, weird, weird! I applied the hack. Then went to GRC. Then all ports were STEALTH except 1-73.

Then I rebooted & went to GRC. Now 1-104 are CLOSED not STEALTH.

I do appreciate any help.

[SOLVED] GRC.com ShieldsUp! reports ports 1-103 CLOSED

GRC.com ShieldsUp! reports ports 1-103 CLOSED not STEALTH. All other first 1056 ports are STEALTH. Easy fix? Or don't worry about it?

I spend over 95% useful time in Linux. The other 5% is to keep my hand in to help my very elderly relatives & very stubborn friends on their doze boxes.

The only thing I need doze for is NETFLIX.

But I used MultiBootOS to load Puppy 5.2 to my USB. Worked perfectly. I did it from M$ doze though.

Not new to Linux

First I tried U____u. The user forum was nasty. Then my true love (so far) for the last 3-4yrs PCLinuxOS. Hardware recognition & the friendly user forum make it for me. Course the OS itself. And it's a kick when the developer answers your posts & even PMed me once. Now to Puppy. Been wanting...
