Can someone please tell me if I can update my present FATDOG64 500 stick? No, everything changed with Fatdog64-600. You could try making a copy of your configuration files in /root/spot and moving them to your new installation. You'll have to click view all in Rox to show the hidden files. They mig...

Thanks for the links, kirk. I was able to DL the tar from the "MIRROR" link, though it wasn't particularly fast, (45min), but doable compared to ibiblio! :) Can someone please tell me if I can update my present FATDOG64 500 stick? I have FF installed and configured with extensive bookmarks...

I second gcmartin's request for a torrent. Had to give up when it stalled out 1/2 way through after an hour. :( If I manage to dl it from ibiblio later, do you (james/kirk) have any objections to my uploading it with hash to a torrent site and/or binaries news server? Thanks for all your great work....

Found the following "babaguy" quoted from "arnold" that fixed my problem! Hi everybody, Some netbooks/notebooks with a Realteck-chip will not give sound. The reason is a missing default-value. Repair is very simple: 1. Run alsa-sound wizard and confirm every question with "O...

[SOLVED] Puppy 5.25 USB stick, No Sound on Toshiba

Hello, Puppy 5.25 in frugal install (saves to mem stick... IIRC that is a frugal install?), on 4GB mem stick. Laptop is a Toshiba L305-S5933 w/ Intel Pent CPU and Intel sound. When I boot from the USB, Puppy runs great except no sound. I do Set Up -> Alsa Sound Wizard and it detects the Intel sound ...

How Do I Enable GnuPG in Sylpheed?

Using FatDog500 on a 4GB mem stick. Sylpheed 3.0.2 was pre-installed. I installed GnuPG and GPGMe, both of which Sylpheed says it needs to encrypt mail. Still no options appear for encr in the program. Then I found this on the Sylpheed site: ------------------------------------------------- GnuPG: [...

Re: [Re]make pet package (Puppy's Extra Treats)

Barry has given us many tools and instructions: http://puppylinux.com/development/createpet.htm To remake a pet one could use pet2tgz, extract and modify contents as required, then dir2pet. (If no file modification needed then tgz2pet could make you a new pet.) THANKS AGAIN. Am about to look at thi...

Hey moB... Thanks for all those instructions! I found a 32-bit pet for Puppy GANT icons ( http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=31059&start=45 ) and renamed to .tar.gz, then tried unzipping but got an error. Said to enable some option to be able to see what the error was, but I could ...

Well... I hope Mozilla is on this... a new browser option under the cookie section to prevent "evercookies" from being set... Until everyone starts using them (Hulu, YouTube, Google et al) and we can't get sites to run without allowing them...! Then there'll have to be a cleaner to wipe th...

Does murga-linux.com HANG a lot, or is it...??

Just wondering if it's Firefox (3.6.10), or Puppy (5.1.1) or the remote server? Sometimes the forum works fast enough... you click to submit a post or query, and "the server responds appropriately." But at least half the time if not more, I get the spinning icon for several seconds, someti...

Aspire w/ Working Sound in Puppy 5.1.1? [SOLVED]

Just wondering if it's possible. On my Aspire 4530 with nVidia HDA sound card, Puppy 5.1.1 recognizes the card, but the volume is so low I can barely hear it through the speakers, even with all controls maxed. Headphones, no different. I used ALSA Sound Wizard and also the controls at the sound-icon...

At this point, of what you have done, I think you have a mixed up install. If you can, I would start again with a clean install of Puppy Linux. Let it use the initial generic driver and see what that looks like. You have a newer video card, so the Nvidia 256.35 or newer driver should work. Well big...

Ah, ok. I used that slick little program Unetbootini.exe or something (can't look at the name cause it's in Windows) to create the bootable USB directly from the iso, no CD required.

I posted something earlier, but gave up on it. I wanted to delete my question about it. There were no replies. Is there a delete button I am missing here? TIA
