It is a designed feature, not bug :> If you are comfortable with bash scripting, you can remodify /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit and comment it out. drj, Your script works nice, the only problem I have is when I use the live-cd in another computer, when booting it looks for the pup101 file to be on a particul...

I do agree with you that another site won't be needed IF we can acomplish the same functionality here or Wiki, as I originally suggested. Basically we just need a go-to place for those packages, not to search anywhere and got lost, It also could be a section under the main/offical Puppy site (hosted...

let me take a wild guess without seeing what it going on you have installed many packages in /root/* and it is bigger than 20MB (du -k /root), which is about ramdisk size I put in. you can try to use bigger ramdisk_size, the first variable in the script, to something like RAMDISKSIZE=40960. basicall...

Re: Hal.dll error
Google shew this: If you get an error regarding a missing or corrupt hal.dll file, it might simply be the BOOT.INI file on the root of the C: drive that is misconfigured. If possible, post your boot.ini here if you could not spot something obvious This technique produces "missing or corrupt hal...

I understood that organization would take time and affect, that exactly what I wanted Wiki, so authors can input themselves. I am looking for something similar to Damn Small Linux (DSL) package http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/damnsmall/mydsl/system/ , but using Wiki format. so ever...

Re: Wiki entry for a centralized package repository
If we can put majority existing dotpups to Wiki and well organized, people will come, as long as it is easier for them to look for any specific applications than on the forum. A stantdard procedure would be a great plus I agree, and those are very good suggestions, but, obviously, they won't work un...

Wiki entry for a centralized package repository
Here is my problem: I am having hard time to find out what applications have been ported to Puppy, what are at working. Even though Flash has a sticky list on the matter and helped a lot, I really think we could do better and be more organized, so that regular users and developers can go one place t...

First of all, WHY do we even need to remaster a live-CD when we have had all wonders of Puppy Linux? Simple answer, because we can. Surely we can come up many situations that we would be happier to have our own Linux distro to fit our unique requirements. however, if we were unable to do it as with ...

sadly you missed my comments/feedback :) I see a few minor issue with it 1. eth1 has been taken on my machine, I had to use wlan0 (and think it SHOULD BE the default, no real gain to use eth1 for wireless) 2. rc.network called in rc.local0, before calling rc.wireless from rc.local, it errored out sa...

Re: give more detail
It is not my version, it is YOURS I was sharing the process/script to remaster a live-CD. how to use it is entirely up to you. After you install puppy on HD, you could customize it, by adding/deleting applications, rearrange things around, put up your icons and background. and furthermore, the remas...

Re: Remastering
Yes, it is possible
do a HD installation first, customize whatever you want, add appl, songs and then remaster a live-CD from hard drive. I just post a how-to today, with a script to build it

How To: Remaster Live-CD based on Hard Drive Installation
I had Puppy 1.0.3 installed on a dedicated partition (Type 2 HD install), and installed other pupGet/dotpup packages, and some utilities from VectorLinux and applications from God-knows-where, and customized WindowsManager to fit my taste. Now I want to make a live-CD to share with others. Here come...
