can I copy configuration from Ubuntu?

Since my internet connection does not seem to be configured, I am wondering if it would be possible to get the configuration settings from my Ubuntu installation, which is talking to the internet just fine, and manually enter them into the right files in Puppy?

In addition to this I can browse the web in Windows and then boot Puppy, changing nothing but the OS I am running (everything about the box stays unchanged) but Puppy still will not connect.

Yes I have four leds. One is power, one says info is coming down from the satellite, one says info is going up to the satelite, and the last says the network is connected. I am not sure the last is on when I am in Puppy but the other three are.

Okay /etc/resolv.conf is as follows: # nameservers go in here That's it the one line. looks like a comment. The box did automatically connect under that other operating system when it was installed. All the tech guy did was call up google in the webpage, it was redirected to the isp and automaticall...

Ok, I have done that then I burned another CD and tried the whole process over again from the start to make sure I hadn't made any mistakes. Still no luck so the diagnostic file is attached to this post.

Ok, I have made burned a new CD and deleted the two files on hard drive then reinstalled and installed the .pet files. Now unfortunately I get the error message at the top of the dial-up window "Warning! No modem detected. You cannot dial out."

Wow, thanks for all the hard work you have put in for me.

My machine is a desktop.

I will try the links you gave and download the iso you suggested but I will wait to see if anyone comes up with any other suggestions before I invest the time to download it (56k modem ~10 hours). Thanks again!

When I try to connect to the internet using my dial up modem I get the following: --> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.53 --> Initializing modem. --> Sending: ATZ --> Sending: ATQ0 --> Re-Sending: ATZ --> Modem not responding. My modem works fine with WindowsXP. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
