FlightGear 2.0 INSTALL - Puppy Lupu 511

Hello Puppy "Flyers". This is kind of a quick and dirty how-to on installing FlightGear 2.0 on Puppy. I have not yet worked on the GUI "fgrun", but this will get you running from the command line atleast with "fgfs" First off, I started with a fresh save file, and only ...

:) - I chuckled at your comment trapster. I will give compiling a shot - Just my own preference, but I will probably provide the whole thing, not a stripped down version.

This will suspend when closing the lid: Download the follow pet: acpitool-0.5.pet place the following two files in the proper directories /etc/acpi/suspend.sh /etc/acpi/events/suspend If acpid is already running and you want to test kill it (killall acpid) and restart (acpid). This should work to power down Puppy using the power button: acpid-1.0.8-i486.pet Add these two lines to /etc/rc.d/rc.local modprobe button acpid The proper scripts are included in the pet file. Look in /etc/acpi after installing to get a better idea. This may come in handy for controlling other fea...

It looks like a better tool to use would be "dir2pet"

Create a directory "JWM-theme-WHATEVER"

Place your files in it in the proper sub-directories ie.

root/.jwm/....

the run the utility dir2pet JWM-theme-WHATEVER

Hope this helps (makes sense)

Good Deal!!!

Hopefully this and the newer kerneled version get plenty of testing. It would be nice to know if this is solid enough to include in following releases of Puppy.

@nutts4life

Here are the changes I added to the file initrd.gz - The tar contains the extra directories, loops, and the modified init script. If you search the init script for "JB4x4" you will find additions in 3 places.

There are new directories, pup_ro7 - pup_ro22, in the replacement initrd.gz file. In theory 255 directories could be created (in the initrd.gz file) along with proper editing of the file "init"

Load up to 20 extra SFS's in Puppy 4.1.1

First off, a big thanks to forum user MU. His work on compiling the 2.6.27 kernel is what discovered the trick. I just applied it to Puppy 4.1.1 - The method used here is a replacement initrd.gz file which contains more loop devices and an edited init file, and an extra boot parameter. Here we go......

Great work!! Crazy how you stripped XFCE down, but kept it functional. Myself, I would prefer the default XFCE desktop, but yours is well laid out also.

Hope your ready to do ver. 4.6 when it comes out :)

Has anyone been able to use opengl / dri on the Aspire One??

Here is what I have done so far....

--Installed xorg_dri_7.3-1

Tried to run glxgears, but X crashes and returns to the prompt. I wonder if it may have something to do with the 915resolution hack.

Any ideas??

No Java.... As for icons, I believe that there is only the needed ones is the /usr directory. (Let me know if I am wrong). I did forget to remove the dictionary extensions after installing (about 8 meg extra). Other than that, it is pretty much a vanilla install. I guess all those "new" ad...

Here is the link for the SDL library I used:

http://www.puppylinux.ca/tpp/bugs/sdl-1.2.9.pet

I also installed the xorg_dri libs (from the official installer), but I don't think these are needed. I added them trying to get a game to work.

Let me know if it works out.
