WINE configuration, can't find vb dll
I'm trying to configure an application (Nota Bene) to work with WINE and am getting the error message: sh-3.1# Could not load 'VB40016.DLL' required by 'NBEDITOR', error=2 After doing some reading about DLL overrides, I've found this dll, put it in the fake c-drive directory in /.wine (in /windows/s...

Thanks for the correction, works fine now. The screenshots of torsmo show it giving a percentage of battery left, but I only get an estimate of remaining time, which is pretty erratic on my laptop. I only see one variable for battery available for use. wmpower picks up a percentage as well as a time...

loading torsmo at boot (+ other torsmo questions)
I'm not clear on how to add a line to rc.local to make torsmo load at boot.
I've tried putting the path to the executable but that doesn't do it, though the same command in a console will open the program.

This doesn't just apply to partitioning. A couple of days ago Windows hung at the end of shutdown and I just hit hard reset. When I booted into Puppy from the CD (with .3fs file on the hard drive), Puppy went into the keyboard and xorg configuration--it couldn't find the .3fs file on the hard drive ...

background changer broken - puppy 2.02 (solved)
The background changer accessible under Control Panel is frozen-- none of the buttons work, no change of desktop is possible. I'm not sure when this happened. I booted with a backup .sfs file from a couple of weeks ago; it has a different background but the changer is identically broken there. I've ...

Sigh. Apparently I was forgetting to mount hda1, so the browser couldn't see Windows, and saw itself instead. (I swear I did remember to mount the c drive at first, but there is an issue with the profile manager not always saving your profile choice and that was helping to confuse me with different ...

problem in sharing Firefox profiles b/t Puppy and Windows
I'm wondering if someone who is working with Puppy and Windows can confirm this problem and hopefully offer a solution. I am booting Puppy 2.02 with Firefox from the CD and saving to a pup-save file on the hard drive. I have Windows XP (on FAT32) on the hard drive, along with Mandriva Linux. Yesterd...

I did a trial run of creating a Puppy Unleashed iso with 2.02, which went okay. I figured I'd change my mind about choices and want to try running the script again and creating a second iso, and I was right. But the second time around, the GUI dialog has most of the choices greyed out and there is t...

Is there a way to mimic a multiuser system by putting password protection on specific programs? I'm interested in a Children's Puppy with some games and educational software on it, for example, but you'd want to lock some of the configuration/setup/system features if you were going to give it to a y...

A few followup questions: I don't have a readout for fan or PC temperature--is there a way to get wmpower to recognize these? (I figure the answer is likely to be no since I was never able to find a fan/temp monitor that worked for my old failing desktop). It takes at least three steps to set up wmp...

Thank you! That's better than I was expecting..a little iconlike window you can keep in the corner all the time, just the thing. This would be a good item to put in the sticky index of howtos at the top of this forum--most laptop users would want to know this. (I don't have anything in the tray eith...

displaced icons after installing software (SOLVED)
Whenever I install dotpup or pupget software, the next time I boot (or when I reboot), all the icons along the left side of the screen are displaced to the far right side of the screen. This is very consistent behavior. I can move them back and all is well until I try installing software again. How ...
