netflix
I read that it is solely with Google Chrome version 37 or higher.. Without Ubuntu, you have to download the libnss3 libraries version 16 or higher. My Tahrpup repositories supplies version 17 - you need to download all three listed (tools not necessary). The html5 preference is filled in directly in...

mplayer
Thanks. I actually installed mplayer2 (don't know the difference). When I went back to puppy package manager I found just "mplayer" and now it works fine. Should I still download that dependency? I don't want to fix something that isn't broken yet if it helps my streaming videos - sure. Ri...

Netflix is now available to linux via html5 - so no agent spoofer necessary or anything else. You have to have Google Chrome 38 or newer.

Thanks. This is an amazing distribution. Who needs more than JWM? Memory is less than 50megs after boot. (not that I need to worry...) The whole purpose in getting this old computer to work is for it to be a video player in our rec room. With netflix and perfect performance with 1080- videos I think...

choppy video
I've noticed that 480 is not bad. I'm not sure how streaming video affects the processor. Playing full resolution video files ie 1080 works perfectly smoothly and seems to take no effort at all. Maybe downloading/streaming is different. I think I just wanted to be sure I'm getting all I can from my ...

specs
Sorry I didn't get all information:
It's the flash player that comes with Tahrpup - not sure how to check
I"m using the latest google-chrome.
Quality setting is for max - 1080 or 720.
I'm just not sure what a Pentium 4 can do and wanted to get all that I could.

YouTube video, audio choppy and out of sync
I have a pentium 4 with 1 gig of memory. Memory not really being a problem I'd like to get the most out of my processor. I'm finding any video streaming such as on YouTube is choppy and out of sync with audio. How can I tell if the installation has chosen the best driver for my video card? I was als...

Problems with mplayer in Tahrpup 6
For my video files, vlc works fine but I would prefer to use mplayer. This is the message I get when I try mplayer: mplayer 20130804_125815.mp4 MPlayer2 2.0-701-gd4c5b7f-2ubuntu2 (C) 2000-2012 MPlayer Team Cannot open file '/root/.mplayer/input.conf': No such file or directory Failed to open /root/....

Thanks a lot! I hope it wasn't too much trouble because I decided to try the newest puppy and since it has a more recent kernel, it recognized my device immediately. I will retry slacko as well with you package. Thanks

building module
Thank you. I would appreciate that information. I have built the module quite a view times from "geekscribble" site. So are you saying I can't do it even with kernel headers and kernel source installed? Or can this not be installed with puppy?

I didn't mention that loaded the DEVX package. Do I need more? Do I need kernel headers?

Problem compiling module for wireless adapter in Slacko
I am attempting to compile a module on Slack 5.7 - for Linksys AE3000 USB wireless adapter. I have been successful with every distribution I've worked with but oddly I'm getting an error message after "make -j10" make -j10 make -C tools make[1]: Entering directory `/root/my-documents/Linux...

trident card
Well, I'm fairly close to giving up, not because of staying power - but I do have another life...... Thanks for previous post, there is a xf86.conf file which enters my card as well as the amount of video ram which is 4000 or something. Is there an older puppy that uses xf86 rather than xorg or is t...

trident video card
How well is this xorg working for you? Any problems? All is the same as before. The card seems to be working without it's own memory and so really drags. At least it works. It's interesting how picky it is. So far it only works on - and I've tried a lot of distributions - Puppy Wary 5.2, a Puppy Op...

looking for driver
Thanks again for the commands to help identify my video card.. It is a Trident Cyberblade /i1 rev 5d. The journey now begins to find any an appropriate driver. I've settled with the Wary 5. None of the other versions recommended helped with my card. So I thought I would start with this community if ...

still trying....
I've stuck with Wary 5 though I"ve tried all the alternatives given by a very friendly commuity! It seems the video card is still the problem. It works but scrolls slowly to render any new text/image. When and if I find the correct driver, how will I incorporate this into the system? To the use...
