okay tried it out on the live cd with basic wine install and all is well,you might need to connect the emu10k1 midi in and out in jack or use aconnect to whatever number your ports may be.

This is really useful also,it's just a small stand alone exe with a slider and midi input and you choose nrpn to control with the slider,the cool thing is you can run multiple instances and really do some tweaking to your awe or 10k1

Well you know,no worries I have plenty of space and the drive and did a frugal install on one of the partitions and it works like it should.
