HI Jbv

How is your project evolving? Do you have something to try, and can we follow your progress anywhere?

Hi jbv Thanks for your post. I have the same goal of a free debian based NAS, where also other "things" can be installed, like SqueezeboxServer from Logitech. I have tried openmediavault, did you by any chance have a look at that? It seems very nice. http://www.openmediavault.org/ it is fr...

Hi I have followed your development with interest as I'm also interested in a small debian distro. As I understand that you might have to start all over again, I thought that you might consider building on voyage Linux (http://linux.voyage.hk). It is a small debian distro (the newest is build on Squ...

Thanks, you only need to start the unetbooting program. It then ask which iso file to load. Then press enter and it produces an USB stick which boots into the chosen Linux. Very simple to use.

OK I see. The reason for using unetbooting is that I'm using a windows computer (I don't have any dd- program on that) and here it is simple to use the unetbooting program that automatically makes the USB stick bootable and boots the loaded ISO file directly. But anyway it was only for your informat...

Hi Sickgut Thank you for your work - I read on the previous page that you had some trouble booting from the USB stick. I don't know if unetbooting will be the answer to your questions http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/ But I have been using unetbooting on a couple of different linux distros, and by ...

Hi Idolse I tried for some time back also to make a headless puppy - see these posts: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?search_id=571240708&t=66633 So it can be done - however I did not have it to automatically show if you plugged in a monitor. For the shutdown I used "Here is how ...

Hi This is really nice and will be very handy. I have the following suggestions. 1. Automatically detect and mount USB-Harddisks when inserted 2 Will you include samba, so that we can we can add new media files to the headless client? 3. A DNLA server. 4. For me a Squeezeboxserver would be optimal f...

Hi Sickgut, thanks for you efforts.

Regarding the SSH, I would prefer that it is build in pussy so that it is always present in Pussy. Then you are able to set up a headles client via SSH login from another computer

Hi Sickgut. I agree that a slimmed down version of Pussy would be nice - so when you already had it slimmed down to about 67 MB- there is no need to study Voyage. I think that a very basic CLI version would be nice, then we could add the things we need. But also a little large version with a graphic...

Regarding the voyage linux, I use it on a thin client with a 500 mb CF-card. It works just like a ordinary debian install - controlling it via ssh, and even apt-get install allows to install all debian packages. I don't know whether voyage can be transformed into a puppy-like dist, but maybe Sickgut...

Hi, i have been using voyage linux. Maybe you could use it as a base for pussy? Voyage linux is a small debian linux with intact apt_get install, but only about 100 mb. It is running really fast, and I haven't found anything missing. it would be nice if pussy could shrink to about that size.. The hom...

Thanks, I really hope you can get it running

I have previously tried myself, but as a complete beginner, I was not able to get Squeezeboxserver running on puppy - it needs Perl

Here you can find the newest version: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89619

Hi This is very nice, makes it easy to use a low powered PC as a media server and audio player. Do you think it would be possible for you to include a Squeezebox server. The Squeezebox Server is needed in order to serve audio to Logitechs audio equipment (Touch, Duet, Boom and Radio). It can be foun...

OK, I have been searching both at logitechs forum and at puppy's forum - and there seems to be a problem installing and running the squeezeboxserver on puppy. That is too bad as I really like puppy and have some sort of understanding how it works. But anyway, I removed puppy and installed Voyage lin...

To follow up - as these errors seems to indicate some Perl problems, I followed some of the instructions from here http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?search_id=508686312&t=67141. the command: perl -v is OK giving this response : This is perl v5.10.1 (') build for i486-linux-gnu-threa...
