I wish someone would make a fully open source puppy that would comply with the opensource standards of the Free Software Foundation.
Would that ever be doable?

Getting Repos Up To Date
I really want to use Midori but it is the most glitchy browser I've ever used. 2.4 is the newest version in the PPM and the newest most stable version is 3.6. I really wish someone would keep the PPM up to date because I want to use the newest most stable version of a software and not it's unstable ...

I suppose erronious would depend on once point of view. No it would actually depend on what one knows. I know for certain that I didn't mention viruses. Linux cloud would have a significant advantage over any windows cloud. That is unless more people begin attacking linux, which I strongly think is ...

Cloud computing is very different then regular computing and incredibly unreliable. Especially if one doesn't have a permanent internet connection. Dialup will not work either, as cloud computing has no use other then for using a browser. You can't download anything either. Most cloud computers have...

Maybe I'm lucky, but I live in a community where I can ride a bus or a taxi without being robbed. I can put my money in an FDIC-insured bank and be reasonably sure I'll be able to get to it. I can leave my clothes at a dry cleaners and they don't get stolen. There are lots of people who choose to u...

Mp3 files created by Audacity won't play except in Audacity
Ok I just opened up a project in Audacity and the sound file worked awesome.
However once I export it as an Mp3, it won't work in any audio player but Audacity.

Well I've never had problems with my wireless dropping me. Well...at least without encryption. It works nice from beginning to end. It's just that puppy can't remember my last used network. Even if I go into network manager and save the profile, I'll have to manually get the connection working again...

525, at least for me has a terrible wireless network manager. At least compared to 520. The networks will not autoconnect on startup. You have to scan for your preferred network each time and manually connect to it. It's a real pain. Perhaps that's what 12linux was talking about. I don't have a wire...

Puppyiso kind of hit the nail with the China story. Truth is that many opressive governments have their hopes set on this because it means that many people will be out of luck when it comes to VPNs and proxies. Meaning they can't access outside information and are easier to control. Also say goodbye...

The specs for your computer say it comes with 256MB of ram with 64MB being used by the on board video adapter. That is at the minimum required for Lupu 525. If you are doing very much, at one time, this could cause your mouse problems. Puppy running out of ram to use. A linux swap partition on the ...

Qtweb is incredibly light. I wonder why no one uses it much? I just downloaded it. It's completely portable and added a desktop icon and I am trying to get it to show up as a default browser. However that's proving to be a challenge. However I think that's a good way to go. At least for me. I tried ...

What computer do you have? What type and brand/model? E-machines T3990 What do you mean by my bios is protected? I go into the bios and most of it is greyed out on default so you can't mess with it. What version of Puppy? I've used 520,macpup and I'm using 525 right now. How is Puppy installed? I m...

Dawnsboy's problem is not unique. Chromium is a horrid browser. It creates profiles and background processes that upload your info to google. That's why it glitches and lags. Also there is the privacy concern. Alexandrion, you should have used Iron instead of Chromium. I am actually using Opera. It'...

Thanks alot. i'm glad they work, and sure, having text based apps tend to be faster but yea, rox is very unintuitive, thunar is so much better, that's why i use it :) i don't think that midnight commander is not used because it's text based, i think it's not used because it's impractical, kind of l...

Thanks alot. I've installed Bleachbit. I've also got Midnight Commander working. You said you didn't try it. It's much faster and lighter then Rox file manager. Much of that is because it's text based. It's a bit more advanced then anything I've ever used. But It's not really confusing either. It's ...

Well I've just exausted all my personal storage watching videos online. That's something that sort of peeved me. I didn't know that the cache uses up puppy's storage. I may get devx. Thanks for the suggestion. However I was simply relaying what I read on another post. There is a post in suggestions ...

I could try. But if Midnight Commander doesn't work then I'll have to ask the developers to stuff slang into their ppm. However I realized that there is no cleaning program for puppy. In the past after a bit of messing with puppy I'd have to delete my save and start fresh since it would begin to lag...
