Aside from Lupu528 I play around with Slacko 53 and Dpup 5.x.9 (leaning towards Dpup atm). Surprise: Until now no problems with WLAN in these puppy flavours... so far my laptop connected every time. I am not a Puppy expert, maybe there is something specific to Lupu528 which can be triggered in some ...

Hi, I had a similar problem in Lupu528 with a frugal install booting from USB flash device. WLAN worked for a while, then (after lots of different installs and uninstalls) it suddenly stopped. Tried everything, but finally gave up and did a fresh install from the live CD, which was - like in your ca...

wine questions

Hello, I installed wine on Dpup 5.x.9 and actually there are three pieces of software I wanted to try running in wine, which are: - FoxMail (became my mail standard program over the years, huge archive, can just copy the whole path to a new PC and it works instantly. Works only on M$ Windows.) - Del...

Re: Wine Menu items -- Getting them under control

Menu listings are created by the desktop files in /usr/share/applications: for example /usr/share/applications/wine.desktop. Their easy to find as they all use the same icon. What I do is click on a destktop file to see what it does. If I don't think it will be usefull --frankly since Rox installs ...

@Beem I am still somewhat confused about the many different Puppy versions. I tried a forum search on "wine", but added "dpup" and "exprimo" as additional search terms to make sure that I'll get something that works for Dpup. Found nothing. Hm. A more general search ter...

OK, here we go... next in list are: - Wine: as I need the laptop to run Delphi: it's not in the standard repo's and not in the SFS apps loader, so how do I install it the right way? - bluetooth: needed to connect mobile phone. I found the bluetooth-0.5 package in the puppy-exprimo repo and will give...

@pemasu Wonderful! Some pointers: - I went back to 12pt and it looks good now, only the initial login dialog has some very small captions for the input fields. Since everyone can guess that this is username/password I don't really care - the PET places the file in /.config rather than /root/.config ...

If the open office deb dragged a lot other debs with it, you need to remove them one by one with puppy package manager uninstall system. I dont know any one click option. Sorry. Thanks for clarification on this. Uninstalled everything manually one by one. Now loading the LibreOffice SFS. Be back la...

is there a fast way to 1-click-uninstall the OpenOffice? Or do I have to uninstall 1-by-1 everything that looks like openoffice in package manager?

I would have recommend you to use sfs apps loader icon (in jwm) and downloaded LibreOffice it offers. Or in menu > document > get libre office which downloads and creates the libre office sfs in your comp, if you have done savefile and you use frugal install method. Not sure how sfs works with full...

openoffice.org_3.2.1-11+squeeze2

You can find it, when you open the package manager and type "open" in the search box.

Repository selected is puppy-common, additional repository is debian-squeeze-main

Hope that helps...

lup528: WLAN auto-connect unreliable [SOLVED]

Hi there, my Lupu528 installation seems to forget the WLAN autoconnect now and then. Result: no network connection. BACKGROUND: - I used Berry's simple network tool to connect - IF it works, everything is fine: I start my laptop and (almost) as soon as the desktop is ready, WLAN connection is presen...

Unless I'm mistaken, thunar gives you the 2-panel layout you request, and several other win xp-like features. Check your thunar config. Xfce makes lovely sidebar panels, positioned where you want. Jwm does not. I installed the compiz_xfce4-4.6.2-Lucid package and can confirm, that Thunar is there. ...
