I've been using Lucid Puppy on this and one other computer, but so far, just doing email and web surfing. I had read that some printers are less friendly with Puppy, but that some may have support already in Puppy (instead of having to install drivers). I did some searching and found the HP file (pe...

I'm using Lupu 525. I found HPIJS 3.9.4 in another thread here (one of your posts). When I downloaded it, Lupu recognized it as a potential pet and asked if I wanted to use the pet manager to install. I clicked yes. After the install it said it would not appear in a menu. I was attempting to use it ...

Installing HP Deskjet 932c
I downloaded and did a pet install for the HPIJS 3.9.4 package.
But the printer is not recognized. I onlly have options print to (or PDF?) via cups.
How to fix?

Frugal lin'n'win
It was suggested to me here that I try Lin'N'Win frugal, and that worked well on an old PII laptop and an HP Pavilion AMD Athalon 64. If you're going frugal, that certainly worked for me: http://www.icpug.org.uk/national/linnwin/step00-linnwin.htm Are you inquiring also because you want to know whic...

I have not tried USB guitar cables. We do guitars into condenser mic or effects, and then into a small Behringer mixer, and from there, into the sound input. From there, we use Ubuntu Studio and Ardor, with various effects. Works well so far, and is less expensive than investing in lots of extra USB...

What a great resource
rjbrewer: Thanks. What a great resource: You still have to do a little Google searching at times for information about the chipset, but then you can look up the model and see if it's supported, or if the manufacturer can provide a driver. This is really a gem.

Thanks!
Thanks, ICPUG! It was actually easy to adapt your old 4.x.x instructions and get 5.2.5 installed, because I used to write and revise batch files in DOS. But I'll visit the web page again to check out the new stuff, and I may use it for a frugal install to another computer.

Card was a lemon - link to check S/N
It turns out that my Netgear WG311v3 was part of a recall -- that's why it only works sometimes in XP (and was the source of intermittent freezes) and is not recognized at all by ndiswrapper in Puppy. Here's the link to the recall if anyone else has trouble with this PCI card: https://my.netgear.com...

Quote from Tempestuous re fix for loss of DCHP after reboot
Bigpup: Here's the part of the thread in your link that seems to apply to my NEC's issue (not the Pavilion a1310n's Netgear wg311v3 issue that is the main topic of this thread): i) seems to apply to me: [edit: i installed this pet, rebooted a few times, and it didn't work. Good try, though.] ..........

Thanks
Thanks, Bigpup: one of the posts by Tempestuous [regarding the fix for having to run the wizard again because DCHP doesn't stick after reboot] night be a helpful part in that thread, which I might try on another computer (the older NEC Versa SX, which was losing its wireless connection after reboot)...

update
Thanks for your help so far on this. OK, here's where things stand: I've tried Ndiswrapper with the drivers for the WG311v3 that were suggested on this thread or on links posted here. Didn't work. Here's how it seems to go: 1. In the setup wizard, I choose Ndiswrapper, and from there, I'm asked to f...
