Exactly why Puppy on a Android device would be great.
Or even better, a puppy distro especially for smartphones and tablets so Android can be gotten rid of completely.
I have never been 100% comfortable with googles stuff.

Hi guys, without trying to start an impedance war here ;-) , please keep in mind that the impedance of a speaker or headphone or microphone is actually the geometric sum of it's DC resistance, it's inductive reactance and it's capacitive reactance. Measuring a speaker with a multimeter only gives th...

Have to agree with sickgut. Even if a communications device like a mobile phone didn't have a built in back door, most countries insist that all service providers (internet and email included) provide a means for interception of that data/voice/video, and since you have to use a service provider, th...

Spot on sickgut. Just as SOPA is bad news, so is piracy. I often rummage around Youtube to find new songs and vids. The ones I like I always go and purchase the original for two reasons: 1) To support the artist/s. Yes there are greedy producers and production houses in the chain taking the lions sh...

Puppy creates (amongst others) a mount point for sdb1 (on my system) for the USB flash drive as read-write then loop1 also as rw for the save file and others such as loop0 and loop2 depending if other sfs files have also been loaded such as devx. Since sdb1 is accessible as /mnt/home then if we save...

So I guess the moral of the story is, if one needs stuff saved permanently, enable the periodic saving feature or use a UPS. Considering how cheap USB flash drives are these days, as long as one backs up the save file say once a week to another medium it does not matter if the USB flash drive is wri...

That is a good question so I decided to try it out on Puppy4.3.1 frugal install on USB flash drive. Created a .abw (Abiword document) and saved it to /root. Switched power off to computer. When I restarted, the document was no longer there. Interestingly, when I restarted the computer, Xwin did not ...

Interestingly, if one uses a CD with the official Puppy4.3.1 iso, then the Xorgwizard dialog always comes up and user input is required, however with Puppy5.2.8 (-004 and -005) it simply sets the video card to the best possible resolution compatible with the video card and monitor. I have tried both...

Thanks Burn_IT. I just found it strange that when one makes a Puppy bootable USB flash drive using UnetBootin there is both isolinux.cfg and syslinux.cfg but only isolinux.bin and no syslinux.bin on the USB flash drive. Contents of isolinux.cfg: default puppy display boot.msg prompt 1 timeout 50 F1 ...

Desktop Icon management

Hi all Can anyone help with the following in Puppy 4.3.1? EDIT: (Discovered how to do 1 simply by modifying /root/Choices/ROX-Filer/PuppyPin) 1) Removing icons from the desktop. I tried right click then remove item(s) but it's back on next boot. I need something permanent. 2) Adding a shortcut on th...

I see some people use isolinux whilst others mention syslinux. This had me confused, but finally found something that makes sense. This could also account for some of the problems experienced by others with their USB flash drives not booting: From http://sid.ethz.ch/debian/syslinux/syslinux-3.75+dfs...

As regards the Icyos2 Youtube video, there is something that does not make sense to me. I was under the impression that isolinux was for booting from a CD, whilst syslinux was for other media such as USB flash drives. In the video, after the whole process, I still don't see syslinux on the now boota...
