Never found an answer to Puppy, mostly using LMDE lately and Pithos works well with it.

Are the repositories for slacko package manager working for anyone? About to give up on this distro, nothing will download from the repositories from me besides slackpet.

How to set am pm time in Slacko?

Just a quick question:
In the latest Slacko, is there a way to set the clock for am/pm time?
Thanks.

Been using Slacko this afternoon and it is working well. I did have trouble with the software center, couldn't download deja vu font extras, nor would firefox install from software center, but firefox did install from quickpet. Wondering if all the repositories are enabled correctly in the software ...

Seems the extra deja vu fonts are not in the repository, unable to download.
Also would be nice to have the liberty fonts.

I like, couple issues

I really like Slacko. It feels polished, it has the option to use all available space on the save file, overall very nice. Two issues I've had with it. Usually touchpad on my netbook works pretty well with default puppy setting, but with slacko had to turn everything up because touchpad response and...

Thanks. Haven't tried the beta yet. I have an Acer Aspire One D255E which is nice but the wireless is particular. It flat out hates Linux Mint. Ubuntu is hit and miss. Puppy 525 and 528 are excellent (as is Macpup and Rexbang), the older Puppies either won't connect or won't stay connected. Mepis 11...

Best Puppy derivatives based on 5.2.5 and above?

Besides Rexbang and Macpup are there any other good Puppy derivatives based upon 525 and above? The wireless on my netbook seems to prefer the newer puppies.
Thanks!

Thanks, but I don't like that 'license key' business. One thing I like about Linux is getting away from that. I was going to try Magea until I heard they have a six page license agreement, man we need to get beyond that, especially in the Linux world, my two cents.

That's a good idea. I usually end up using google docs. A stripped down Writer would be nice though.

I wish I was good at code, I would do it. I loved having Writer as a stand alone program in Joli OS but I don't use Joli anymore. I do have at least 4 Puppy versions on USB that I would like to have a cut down Writer on. Sometimes I deal with larger files than Abiword can handle well.

This is from a Jolicloud tech person: They're all available, just separated for those who don't have enough drive space for them or simply don't want them all at once. ^ZK He is speaking of the other packages besides the writer, so somehow they split up the OpenOffice package (calc, impress, math, w...

Here is a reply I got from my post to Jolicloud: you can download calc and impress from the app centre but the Database files are not included by default under ubuntu which is what Joli is based on, to get them do this Open the terminal Alt F1 copy this text and paste it into the terminal 1 line at ...

I don't know for sure, but I would think the Joli OS/Jolicloud guys know their stuff. I think they are working toward the phone market as well and have made the software to work as apps within Joli OS. If they can do it, I'm not sure why it could not be done elsewhere.

Word Processor for Puppy

I really wasn't sure where to put this, so I apologize ahead of time if this is the wrong place. I have thought for some time that many users have absolutely no use for the entire office package from Open Office/Libre Office, but very much like the Writer program. It is more robust than Abiword (as ...
