MY HERO! That did it! That fixed it. And I got my theme back! It turns out that my focus model was set to click even in the template, but one of those two shell commands did whatever needed to be done. I hope no one ever has to experience the frustration of having a focus model forced on them again...

[SOLVED] JWM done fell out - how to resuscitate it?

There I was, happily going through life when I installed the Google Hangouts plugin for Mozilla. It took my JWM settings and flushed it down the toilet. Or perhaps it wasn't that, but it was the thing that I installed right before JWM done fell out. My window focus model went from click to sloppy ag...

How to uninstall Puppy's firewall? (Solved)

I normally operate behind a portable travel router with a fantastic and solid firewall on it. I tested oh-so-briefly a 3G/4G USB stick modem and in the process went ahead and installed Puppy's built in firewall. I need to undo it. Reason being that it is causing my WiFi connection to drop randomly-y...

I downloaded and loaded the SFS and am having a problem that it appears that no one else has experienced before: the dialog boxes are too small and cannot be resized. See the attached screenshot. I loved SoftMaker 2008 and might be returning to that (didn't have that problem) if no one has a solutio...

I loved this on my old install of Precise (5.1 IIRC), but when I upgraded to 5.7, it now quits whenever I try to do anything for lack of an icon file. So thank you to the OP who made the file that I loved and used for so long, but a warning to those of you who are trying to use it "off label&qu...

Thank you! This was very helpful!

I just installed a Lexmark P707 and this was the only post in all the first two pages of Google search results that worked.

Size of a 9" netbook and can run Puppy?

For five years I have owned, loved, and run Puppy on an Asus Eee PC 900A. Unfortunately, it appears that I have reached the end of line for my beloved machine. Parts are breaking one after another (first the motherboard, then the keyboard, then ...), and replacement parts are just not easy to come b...

Thank you rcrsn51. I just bought a Brother laser printer off of Craigslist today and was able to get it up and running with Puppy within a matter of minutes. The hardest thing to do was to figure out where the printer's power button was. :)

Much obliged by the work you've done here.

Thank You!

I just wanted to write a big, "Thank you!" to all the people who posted in this thread. You all very much helped me do what I wanted to do with LaTex, TexLive, and Lyx (as well as read the Qt writing on my screen).

Thank you to CatDude and 01micko for attempting to help me. Sadly, neither of your attached versions restored the graphical icon, though both worked with the hover and click functions of the applet.

Any other ideas?

Re: FreeMemApplet Related Icons?

as i believe (though i may be wrong) they are compiled into the binary file: /root/Startup/freememapplet_tray Does the above file exist :?: Yes, that file still exists. If you hover your mouse over that space, does it display the usual information about how much space you have left etc :?: Yes, it ...

My freememapplet icon has a habit of disappearing when I set the clocktype from 12 to 24 hour. I open htop, kill freememapplet, open the jwm configuration manager, restart jwm, and it pops into it's place again! My personal magic, I don't know if it works for you. 8) tallboy I tried your solution, ...

FreeMemApplet Related Icons?

I'll start by admitting that it is my fault ... I deleted - don't ask me how, as I'm not really too sure - the images/icons/graphics associated with the FreeMemApplet. As you can see from the attached partial screen shot, there is still a lovely little space for the useful graphic indicators, but no...

A computer engineer came over to my house a few days ago and figured out what had happened. I lost a resistor and so I lost a bit, and having the corrupted bit due to the burnt out resistor means that the F keys shifted one to the left and I lost the first and last key on that byte. So it turns out ...

Yes, it is rather a puzzle. Have you ensured that it is not a hardware problem? If not, try booting with another OS, or try booting from your Puppy CD and issue the puppy pfix=ram command at the boot prompt. If this shows that the hardware is working fine, reboot normally so that the problem return...

Keyboard Suddenly Unmapped (Solved)

Hi all! I have a bit of a puzzle. I have puppy installed to an Asus EeePC (900A) and all was going splendidly. Within the past week or two - I cannot pinpoint it exactly - I noticed that the keyboard mapping seems to have spontaneously disappeared. I can still type with all the letter keys and the s...

Sorry if I am stating the obvious. Did you select "Burn Video"? I did, indeed. However, I misstated the outcome. It ends up burning a completely blank disk. I am attaching the log file in case you can extract more information from it than I could. I had a DVD burner attached with a DVD in...
