Neubie, novice at linux, weants to help. Managed to wipe XP off my aspire one netpbook with 800 Mhz Atom, got it honking fast with TahrPuppy full install. OPK, I do admit to RTFM a bit... So, can you use a FNG to help somehow?

CD's are cheap to get in a stack, and cheap to burn. LEAVE THEM PLACES. Hey, make them read only so when...

This is a hp pavilion, 2 months old, big black and powerful, and it's inside my desk where it's hard as all get out to get to...

tap time default of 0 prevents scratchpad taps
I finally found why the scratchpad ignores taps. The default tap speed (time?) is set to ZERO, thus no tap is long enough to register. This may not be the most useful default for 5.2.8 to come out with. Possibly the default setting should not prevent function, until the new user decides to do so the...

the ongoing saga
ok, I got it so the boot time menu works, and the thing TRIES to go find and load linux, then it comes up with a blue screen of options and it allows me to edit them- and they do not work. One is the default boot, but this is NOT normal windows, but rather the special version for recovering the syst...

Alas, it wants to read the files from the live CD, and ignores the fact that I booted from a flash drive- which it cannot find.

How to install Lupu and Windows so I can boot either?
:? :?: OK, I like it. I got LUPU installed successfully on a flash stick and it boots that way nicely. It created D: on the drive and everything works well, and I am VERY impressed with the performance improvement in this little underpowered box. Now, either dual boot from the HDD or just install it...
