USB Flash Drive Quality

Just for the record I have four Lexar flash drives, and all are running fine. In fact, I have had three of them for five years and they have all had heavy use. slavvo67 , this is an interesting topic and could provide some useful information. Toward this end, it would be better to get a good ...

Puppy cannot find puppy_wary_5.5.sfs

sindi,

Try the following edit:

Code: Select all

append="pdev=satahd,pmedia=sda7,psubdir=wary5-5"
Hope that helps,

Boot from USB where there is no operating system found

Hi schnahz,

If you are certain that your laptop supports booting from a usb drive, have you checked the bios to ensure that this feature is enabled and that the boot order is such that your system would search for a bootable flash drive first before any other drives?

Unable to connect to puppylinux.ca

Here is just a heads up that http://www.puppylinux.ca/ appears to be down at the present time.

I don't know if Eric is aware of this yet or not, but given that its the holiday season, I'm thinking it could be awhile before the site is up and running again.

My report on Quirky 6.0

Hi all, I have Quirky installed on a 16 gb flash drive. The install script appears to have formatted the flash drive as f2fs, but it's showing up as two partitions: sdb1 (fat) and sdb2(f2fs). I am not sure if this is the intended outcome or not. Should I have re-formatted the flash drive as ext 2 or...

Can not find zyxel linux drivers

I never thought it was a o.s. issue. Yet, you told tempestuous that you disagreed with his assessment... --go figure. I have not found anyone who has actually done it. Before I blame the hardware, I will go thru the manual and complete all the steps. I downloaded the firmware, but it doesn't say ho...

Wireless ceases to function on Puppy 5.5

Hi DM, Were you able to resolve this issue? I wondered if maybe it was just a glitch, and with a reboot of Puppy you were able to get on-line. The system has cleanly shut down every time I've shut it down so I don't know if there was a risk of corruption. Hmmm, it sounds like you should be keeping a...

Can not find zyxel linux drivers

I have to say I do not agree with your assessment. It will be easier getting it setup and running under Windows since it has no "Linux capable" sticker on it. :) When that is done, then as Schwarzenegger said, "I'll be back." :-) I can post a link to a copy of the manual if that...

rburkartjo,

Have a look at this thread here. The versions of Bleachbit are more up to date and there have been some fixes for Puppy Linux.

Hope this helps,

Please help...Unable to unmount USB flash drive

Hi Winescape, You should be able to use your Windows XP disk to repair your installation. I wonder if the boot order needs to be checked in your bios settings. It could be that your hard drive is set to boot first before an optical drive or other device. My thoughts are that you may have messed up t...

Community Edition anyone interested?

Puppy has existed for quite some time now in the guise of a "pure" Puppy experience e.g. Quirky, Wary and Racy etc. as well as a "clone" experience e.g. Slacko, Lucid and Precise. They all lived perfectly happily together and is was this rich choice that (as well as for other re...

Pmount or Partview?

Pmount uses probepart to determine space on a drive whereas Partview uses diskfree to determine such info. The problem seems to be that the Block size is not set consistently at 1024 bytes when measuring drive space and capacity --particularly with probepart : http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto...

Wary5.5-Live: USB unmounts, loggs off and on ?spontaneously?

Wary 5.5 is buggy with respect to usb drive assignments... something which I mentioned to BarryK earlier this year. If this is a major concern, I recommend that you install Wary 5.3 instead.

wary5.5 savefile only works once

wiko,

Try using the Puppy Universal Installer to create a savefile on your usb drive. Hopefully you can do this without having to re-boot... and then can you post the output of your PUPSAVE file?

I don't understand. You want support for new hardware using these old versions on a 32 bit OS? Yes. I think there is still lots of support for running a 32 bit OS, even on newer systems. We need to start somewhere. The specs I propose serve to raise the bar, but to ensure stability in terms of upgr...

Community Edition anyone interested?

Hi all, I would like to see the community edition carry on from where BarryK left off --so-to-speak. Putting Precise Puppy aside, I feel that Wary and Racy are Barry's signature Puppies, and that we should look at these two breeds first. Wary fits an important niche in that it is designed to work on...
