...I'ver had the same problem with my fujitsu-siemens Amilo A notebook.

Only puppy v1.02 with kernel 2.6 worked! The USB ports and the IRQs are recognized well.

Since v1.03 with kernel 2.4 I'm not able to boot the system anymore

let me know if v1.02 works on your system...
