If it detects a harddrive my BIOS won't boot a removable device even though it is set as the 1st boot device in the BIOS. I need to press "esc" after POST to get into a boot menu from where I can choose whatever device I want it to boot from

After seeing your post I got a reframe on the issue. I am using 107, but I was using bombayrockers 2.4.29-lck... I swaped back to the stock kernel/image.gz and voila the module loads :D Thank you so much for this!

Yes, you just press "Manual_config" in the ethernet wizard. You can also do it with the ifconfig-command directly in the console, but that would not be permanent one

I run Puppy 107 with bombayrockers Kernel 2.4.29-lck on a Via Eden box with Apollo graphics. Native resolution on the LCD screen is 1280x1024

The vga-modes that work here are 769, 771, 773 and 755

The modes 784, 785, 787, 788, 790, 791 lead to kernel panic while copying usr_cram
