Yes, if you don't create the "teamviewer.desktop" file before installing the .deb file and then only run teamviewer from the "teamviewer.desktop" file, you'll get the "running as root" complaints. If you happen to install the .deb file first, you can still create the &...

Yes nooby, you are right. Actually, I booted from Lucid 5.2 and ran the universal installer, selecting frugal install. It copies those files to the default folder. But this thread gave me the information necessary to make grub2 work. Thanks again all.

I'm glad I ran across this thread. I installed Linux Mint 10 and was wondering how to install Puppy as a frugal install inside the Mint partition. I put this in the Mint /etc/grub.d/40_custom file: menuentry 'Lucid Puppy 5.2' { set root='(hd0,1)' linux /puppy52/vmlinuz initrd /puppy52/initrd.gz } Th...

I just installed the PET package in Lucid 5.0, and it does connect with another Linux OS running the "final" TeamViewer for Linux, version 5.0.8888. It connects just fine from the other Linux box, but if I try to remotely reposition a window on the Lucid box, the "move" function ...

I've been looking for a way to change the screen position, and make it permanent, for a couple of years. Should have found this post earlier. Worked very well. I'm running Lucid 5.0, and there are FOUR (4) of the ... "880x600" (or whatever your resolution is) to change, not Three. Anyway, ...

Another way: If you create a folder /root/Desktop , it is used by applications like Firefox and KDE in fresh installs. To have quick access to it in Rox-Filer, drag it on Puppys desktop. Then you can click on that folder, to see downloaded files for example. Mark After reading Pizzasgood's info, th...

How to Download to Desktop?

Okay, I had two questions: 1. How to establish a "Desktop Icon" shortcut, and 2. How to download an internet file to the Desktop I think I managed to answer the first question by searching........ just open ROX and drag the file to the desktop. I assume this creates a link, and does not co...

How to single-click desktop icons??

I've searched through the TEENpup menues and this thread, and can't seem to find out how to enable single-clicking the desktop icons instead of having to double-click them. The orig Puppy 2.14 is single-click for everything, I think. It messes me up shifting back and forth. If you start the file man...

Removing "makeactive" line did work.

Thanks rcrsn51, removing the "makeactive" line did the trick it seems, and Windows did boot w/o the line in there. Makes you wonder why it is in there in the first place?? I'm sure there is a good reason, but I don't pretend to know what it is!!

Boot Label using GRUB Won't Stick; Frugal Install-RESOLVED

I installed Puppy 2.17 as a Frugal Install in hda3. Swap is hda2. Existing Windows XP is hda1. Not wanting to change the MBR, I installed Grub to the superblock of hda3 and used Gparted to set the label to BOOT on hda3. When I rebooted the computer, Grub starts normally and I can select Puppy or Win...

I'm still not able to use the PETget package manager to install packages with any version 3 of Puppy, including 3.01. If I try "nluug" or "gatech" I get a pop-up message that says the site is UNREACHABLE, and asks if I'm connected to the internet -- yes I am; I can browse all da...

Running Puppy 3.00Beta2 in VMWare Server

I often run the latest version of Puppy in VMWare Server in my main computer before installing it to older computers to give away to folks that can't afford them (very satisfying activity, I must say). That way I can check it out for stability and bugs for myself. Anyway, this time it wouldn't boot ...

I extracted the vmwaretool.tar.gz file to a te...

I've installed Win2K using the very same setup, but it won't boot up any version of Puppy. (I'm putting a dual boot on most old computers I give away to people who can't afford a nice new one.) I've swapped out the CD-ROM into another computer and Puppy boots fine. I've swapped another CD-ROM into t...
