Lxpup has lxde, fatdog lxpanel, and fedora xfce 4.10. I installed my usual applications on Fedora, the speed was about the same, boot and shutdown was faster. But something runs slower on fedora, a program called Procesing, it's based on Wiring programming and uses Java. It's used to make visuals. W...

Frugal install with ext4 savefile. Chrome is an .sfs . Could this make it slower? The rest of the programs run fine, they may take a little to load the first time. I have a lightweight setup with lxde and 0 effects. I also don't think that puppy runs slower... but not faster, on newer machines it's ...

Puppy speed on fast computers
Hello. I use puppy as my primary OS since 2009 or so. But now i was wondering about it's real speed. It's clear that's one of the fastest distros for old computers. But what about newer ones? Mine is a high-end i5. Puppy runs fast. But the other day i installed AVlinux because my wife wanted to try ...

Hello GJacob, you sound like me. Last week I bought a 'refurbished' laptop that came with Windows 7. I planned to dual boot with Puppy. I found something called EasyBCD that was supposed to edit 7 boot file.... and I Googled 7 and found how to shrink the 7 partition to make room for Puppy. THEN, I ...

Hello. I found this http://www.freeos.com/article/15335 looks like it's just lucid puppy, the poster says it's based on natty... But if you read in the puppy official description, it says that some programs are updated to nattys, so the poster on freeos misunderstood it, or i'm misunderstanding it.....

Hi Capicoso. The answer to your question is yes and no! I got one machine to run bitcoin (on Slacko 531) but my favourite pc is quite cranky (will only run on 528 (dual screen) or 511 (mono screen), neither of which want to run the bitcoin app. Well, at least one works. I got into problems though (...

Having another go at this project but am stuck on the qt thing. The 528 quickpet / PPM doesn't list qt (can't be found by search). There's a mention of this file here but I can't understand what it points to (sfs? pet?) or what to do with this info) http://puppylinux.org/wikka/bitcoin Hmm.... well,...

Which programs? Which puppy are you using? You mean that all dependencies should be in the same .pet package? Sometimes that's ok, depending whichs deps are. But chaos will occur ir we include all dependencies on the same packages. You install a program that needed python 2.7, ok, later you install ...

Hey, When I first booted the pendrive I was aked to name the save file, and I named it eeesave-first.2fs, as you can see. It has grown quite large (536,870,912 bytes). I do not know why it is so large. Perhaps the iso files of other Puppy versions and other distros are in it. I probably need to get ...

hey Frugal means that you don't need an entire partition for the OS like windows or other linux. A frugal can be installed for example, in the C:\ of Windows. It just uses 4 files, the savefile, the .sfs file, vmlinuz, and initrd.gz . All in the same folder. So you wouldn't need to repartition your ...

I didn't use Puppeee, but, i suppose it asks you because for machines with 256mb and lower, it's better to not load them(i'm not sure though, none of my puppies ever asked me for that) For the 2nd question. What if you made changes, in the last 8 hours, and all of a sudden the power goes off...? You...
