Forgive me if this sounds a bit cheeky, but why didn't you go for 802.11n wireless LAN instead?

You could have been halfway there with the cost of the CAT6, have better throughput, and easier to set up.

If cost wasn't the issue, I would put the cable on eBay and go wireless.

Just my 2.5c.

Now there's a coincidence. I haven't been to Tucows for over 4 years. I was actually on Tucows, getting something else, (which will be revealed shortly), while you were posting, and while I was there I searched for, and d/l CompuPic. I tried it, and all I can say is that they should hang their heads...

That was not a notice of intent.
I am not a Prima Donna. :)

Does anyone have a copy of that page?
I am now interested to see what transpired after I left.
At the time, I didn't want to know.

Not worth the effort, last time I looked. :(

Give us a link to the Ubuntu .deb, and I'll give it a try.

I don't have a problem with that. You can have hidden-but-not-hidden directories that are not linked to anything, and only accessable to those in-the-know. Or maybe that's what they are talking about. We'll find out. One thing I like about them is that by the time you have finished your registration...

@raffy,

I have just set up a new site on freehostia.com.
It seems like a better host than all the others I have looked at.

I didn't notice any nonsense in their TOS.

Take a look at it.

@raffy,

I just read ubservers TOS, and they don't seem too keen on forums by the look of it.

Other than that, their hosting seems better than any I have looked at recently.

Thankfully he has removed the thread that caused all the damage.

Re:AwardSpace..
Have you read their terms of service? :(

I was going to setup a site for another purpose, but I'll keep looking.
Getting harder to find good hosting now.

Hi Dave,

The nonsense started up again, I left, and raffy decided that enough was enough.

Cheers,
koolie.

Thanks muchly. Using that info I found stayconnected.pet. All seems good now. Acting like a true newbie, I neglected to say that I am using Slacko 531. I was getting a bit annoyed at repeated disconnections while I was doing my registration. Thanks again, and thanks to the person who made the .pet.

I keep getting disconnected from the forum (Solved)

Hello world.

I am the latest addition to the forum, and I will try to be helpful. :)

I have come from a (mostly) quiet village, so treat me kindly.

I do have an initial question.

I keep getting disconnected.

What is the utility that keeps a connection alive called?

Thanks.

:)
