OK
I searched and found snap2 on ppm, installed it, got a confirmation that it installed. Now how do I use it to backup data on a USB stick?

Thanks for your reply, musher0! I am sorry for my ignorance. I still can not find the posted gonst program. When you say the 1st post I am not sure what you mean. Are the posts numbered? I assumed you meant the first posting on the first page. Is this correct? What should I look for? Usually on thes...

Scanning with Brother Printer MFC-L2700DW

Thank you for the help. I am delighted with the results. I followed the instructions using the proper driver and everything went smoothly. I can now both print and scan. I might suggest that the small program called "simple-scan" is easier to use than either x scan or peasyscan if all you ...

Scanning with Brother Printer MFC-L2700DW

2/17/17 I am still trying to do this without success. I have made a discovery. I set up xubuntu on this same computer with the same USB connection to the Brother Printer. I have been able to scan perfectly with it. This is encouraging to me. It shows that the hardware can work on Linux. How can I du...

PupSysInfo-2.6.6

Thanks very much for the information you provided. It has taught me a lot. I am not sure I know how to use it, but I will try. Some of my computers which indicate 64 bit compatable on PSI will not boot 64 bit versions of Puppy.. Partly for this reason, I am working to standardize all my computers as...

PupSysInfo-2.6.6

I have just discovered Pup-Sysinfo System Information on TahrPup 6.0.5 after using Linux Puppies for several years. It appears very useful to me, but I have a few concerns. The version of PSI which I had was 2.6, but I saw that the latest seems to be 2.6.6. I down loaded the pet of 2.6.6 and install...

Mike, Thanks for the information. It is useful to me. I will not post on this thread except regarding Slimjet. I have one Slimjet question. What are Slimjet's advantages compared to Chromium or Iron. You have pointed our that it does not have Iron's capability to run streaming videos from Netflix or...

Mike, Thanks for your reply. I thought the 25.xxxx version of Iron was new. I think I installed it recently using Quickpet. Quickpet does not show the version before it is installed. I read the website on fixing Snaps. I probably can not get much from it. I also downloaded Clean'n'Click. It put a li...

Mike, Please give me the benefit of your wisdom. I have started to set up a 32 bit Puppy installation on USB sticks. I have both a Tahr and a separate Slacko installed on separate USB sticks to see which works the best for me. You indicated that Tahr is getting pretty old. What about Slacko? Maybe i...

Mike, I have decided to try using a 32 bit version of Puppy on all my machines. I need to set up one first, with everything we need downloaded and configured on a USB stick. This will include Chromium, Slipjet, and Iron. Then I will clone that stick drive, using Pudd, for use on all the other comput...

Wow, Mike! I have learned more from your last few posts than I have in the years I have been using Puppy Linux. I have several questions? I am considering going to 32 bit Puppy Linux for all my machines. It would make taking care of them much easier. What are the advantages I would lose on the 64 bi...

I got distracted away from trying establish Slimjet in my Tahr64. I still have not followed your instructions to remove and reinstall it. I have actually been quite satisfied with Chromium. Mike, I am not sure I can do all that manual purge, but I will try. It will take me most of the day, because I am so slow and make so many mistakes. Also I have to be in town for much of my day. The pressure to get Slimjet up and running is somewhat reduced because I have usse PPM to install a curre...

Mike, Properties gave a lot of information. I have made a screen shot of that window, but I do not know if it can be pasted to this post. It does not seem to let me copy it, so I can not paste it. Instead I am going to try to attach the screen shot file. I have no confidence it will transmit to you....

Mike,

I am sure that this is not what you expect. I did what you said as best I could follow. With your guidance it was so easy I did it a few more times.I always got this results:

root# /usr/bin/flashpeak-slimjet
bash: /usr/bin/flashpeak-slimjet: No such file or directory

Mike, Thanks for your continued help. I definitely have a frugal installation of Tahr64 based on the indicators you gave me. I uninstalled Slimjet using PPM, downloaded the latest Slimjet, moved it to /mnt/home, and ran it as you instructed. It seemed to go well except the last 2 small windows did n...

Mike, Thanks for your reply and help. Sorry, I have not had internet connection for the last 3 days. I am now back and still trying to install a later version of Slimjet on my Tahr 64. I think I installed the full version of Puppy Tahr, but I am not sure. Is there anyway to know? I know I used Quick...

I am very grateful for the work you do and for this Forum. I often read it, and occasionally reply. I am a very unskilled old man who does not know what I am doing at all. I am not at all good on the command line, and rarely use it. One reason I like Puppy Linux is the large number of useful GUIs it...
