Change from 216 beta to final
I have run into a curious problem between 216 beta and the final 216 related to Truecrypt. I compiled tc with 2.16 beta, and was able to mount a volume that was located in /root (eg, truecrypt /root/tcvolume.tc /mnt/tcfile/) without a problem. When I copied over the sfs files from the final version ...

Resize Update
As additional info, I looked at the text file that flags the increase and it is empty. I also saw the message about increasing the size, and the size is blank. It says "increasing by K".
Apparently the size of the increase is not being written to the txt file.

Resize Storage File Utility Not Working in 2.16 Beta
Hi everyone, I am trying out the beta of 2.16. I am starting from scratch and create a new pup_save on initial shutdown. I am now trying to increase the size of the pup_save. I run the utility, select the size, get the message, and click ok and shutdown. The text file for the size increase is there....

The initrd.gz file appears to be version specific
Hi Kirk, Thanks for the info. I downloaded the initrd.gz file and copied it to my drive, replacing the default initrd.gz file that came with 2.15, but the system would not boot. It said that it could not find puppy in idehd and dropped to the shell. If I rename the pup_215.sfs to pup_214.sfs then it...

There appears to be some change to encryption in 2.15
First, thanks to all posters for your input. I have been following another thread on encrypting the pupsave file, and there are some references to encryption being taken out of 2.15, which may explain why tc can compile in previous versions. I tried again today with Truecrypt 4.3a and had the same e...

Was there a change to 2.15
Thanks for the reply. I used device-mapper.1.02.13.tgz, so I don't know if that made a difference. There was a statement in another thread on pupsave encryption that said that "encryption" had been removed from 2.15, so I was wondering if the code removed from 2.15 affects my ability to co...

How to add by hand and does it affect truecrypt compile
Hi Pizzasgood and other posters, Thanks for your help. I am a relatively new comer to Puppy and Linux in general. When you say add encryption by hand to 2.15, what are the steps? Is there a library that needs to be added, or some source code that needs to be compiled, and if so, which? There is anot...

Works with glitches
Hi kkpity, Thanks for posting the two dm modules. I copied them to the dm folder, did a depmod -a, and I was able to mount my existing tc file under Puppy2.15. Only glitch is that the files are showing up with their 8.3 names, rather than their long file name. With Truecrypt in Kubuntu, they show up...

Installing the davfs file system
Hi sunburnt, Attached are the files I used to get davfs running on my system. Make sure you undeb the 3 deb files in the top level directory "/" so that the files end up in the right place. the sshfs.tar.gz file can be installed with the petget wizard. Configuration items: In the /etc/davf...

Thanks
Hi kkpity, Had a browser problem. I see your two attachments. If you don't mind, it would be great if you post the two dm ko's in modules/dm so that they are from the same compile. I will try to copy these files to the appropriate directories and see if I can get TC to work on 2.15. Best regards, Mel

Thanks
Hi kkpity,
Thanks for the help. I don't see the files attached to your posting. Also, it would help if you attached the md-mod.ko and md-crypto.ko from the /lib/modules.2.6.../md directory.
Best regards,
Mel

Thanks
Thanks, I will wait to see what develops re encrypting pupsave. Maybe there is a way to encrypt just a folder on the pupsave rather than the entire pupsave (faster loading). I really only want to encrypt stored passwords (e.g., openvpn key, dav server password and encryption key), since I carry pupp...

Will this work for 2.15?
Hi everyone,
Will this process for encrypting the pup_save work for 2.15? I assume the initrd is different for each version, or no? How about the encryption script?
Many thanks,
Mel

Link to Topic Broken
Hi everyone,
I am having the same problem as dfelicia with Truecrypt 4.3 and Puppy 2.15, same error message after compiling. PaulBx1 posted an answer with a link to topic 10415, but the link is broken. Would someone be able to tell me what was the solution.
Thanks,
Mel

Thank you
Hi sunburnt, Many thanks for the help. The mount-FULL command worked. davfs is a file system to mount remote directories over the web if the host is running a davserver. Problems compiling with 2.15 and TrueCrypt 4.3
As a follow up to my post yesterday, I attempted to compile truecrypt using the instructions in the post. Only difference is that I am using Puppy 2.15 (same kernel source 2.6.18.1 per uname -r), and using truecrypt 4.3 vs. 4.2a. Went through the entire process and when I tried to mount an existing ...

Post compiled files
Hi kkpity, If you have been able to compile from the source, would you be able to post the two compiled files, truecrypt (probably in /usr/bin) and truecrypt.ko (probably in /lib/module/2.16.18.1....), and indicate the exact location of the two files. Wouldn't it be possible then to copy those two f...

How to install the davfs file system in 2.15CE?
I have not been able to get the davfs filesystem installed in Puppy. I am attempting it on 2.15. I have undebed the davfs2.conf file, and when I type mount.davfs at a terminal, I get all of the options for the command. When I try to mount, however, I get error messages and it looks like it is trying...
