battleshooter, appreciate the feedback. its the openbox that comes as the default wm in lupu, specs say openbox 3.4.11 , repo has it as openbox_3.4.10-1 . the xdgmenu that also shows up in repo composes the start menu so it shouldnt (probably?) be necessary.
