REGRETA in a new light!
It looks like Greta may be changing her world view a bit. She has even adopted a feminine paint job for both her fingernails and her weapon! Now that is a girl worthy of attention.

Another one?!?!?
Thanks as always for your updates of TBB and many other "puppified" goodies at smokey's place. But seriously, how often is the Tor project going to issue new versions, anyway? If I see that "browser is out of date" thing one more time......

Thanks again...
OscarTalks- I did not have the chance to thank you for your response to my problem last time. I have been away but just now wanted to thank you for that as well as for the new update yesterday. I will likely stick with your advice to karunakuran to get the new sfs's as you roll them out. I might try...

I hate to do this.....
I am now running into problems getting Tor to start. I can't remember exactly how I got the sfs working before, but now I can't. I have tried several different ideas such as starting with new savefiles, installing the sfs and then rebooting before applying Tor updates, and so on. What is happening i...

Some praise....
Once again, the SFS is working fine on Tahr 6.03 with the 5.0.1 update applied from the Tor site. You're awesome, OscarTalks...this is a fine service.
BTW, nice avatar and sig, Mike.

A response...
I appreciate the enthusiasm for the subject! I have been away and have not been able to respond. Thanksgiving is coming up, and I may not get to respond for a few days after this. So, I will try to get my ideas in this installment. Also, soon after I began this thread, I was looking ever more deeply...

Oh dear, I should have made it clear that I am looking for write speeds in particular. Naturally, I am more demanding and petulant when it comes to the harder of the two directions for data transfer...we don't do Linux because we're casual users :-) I can live with 20-25 megs/sec for reads, but the ...

Yes, I saw that discussion when I did a lot of looking on the subject. I usually try to do a decent amount of research before asking a question here. This problem seems to elude significant progress, much less a resolution. The speeds of 6-7 megs/sec is not too far from my own values which I arrived...

What flash drive speeds do you get?
OK, everyone - I am wondering about your real-life experiences with USB flash drives. What write speeds do you get? How do you optimize those speeds? Do you see disparities between Linux and Windows? I have looked all over and seen so much FUD on this - it is terribly confusing, and I thought that t...

Hacking the DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance)
(Referring to this thread. - Flash) Hi all..on the subject of DLNA, are there any modifications of a DLNA server program that allow using an ethernet connection to get a command line from the client device (like a bluray player) to appear on the server machine? In other words, I want to hack the pla...

I am bumping this....don't complain!
I had hoped to get some more conversation going on this topic of getting real confidence in digital video playback. It seems to be quite difficult to get good info on this, and I have certainly looked. Do these graphics processors mentioned before require us to compile drivers for them, or are they ...

A few responses in one conenient package
On the subject of these youtube videosa - I do not think that it is possible to use an old processor to simultaneously handle downloading a video, transcode it, decode it, and render it while running the OS and the media player. Please correct me if I am wrong . I am trying to understand digital vid...

More on the subject....
Thanks to all who have replied.... Can these codecs in a graphics card be modified or updated? Is there a way to access the firmware of the device? And is it possible to obtain improved firmware? Or.....is such programming the sole domain of the hardware manufacturers and inaccessible to the open-so...

Why do some graphics cards mention codec support?
Hi all... I have used the puppy os and the puppy forum for some time, and I like its activity and generosity. That is why I am asking about this issue here, even though it is not specific to puppy. (But I would be happy to apply the ideas to it!) I am trying to make some sense out of digital video p...
