Interested to see your comments. I have an 18 year old daughter at uni who is running Puppy on her laptop, so I can see your point of view as she has asked for similar things. Maybe you should have a go at using Mark Ulrich's 'mkkde' to build a kde squash file. (search for kde_mini) and dead easy to...

Re bluetooth files

Hi all These are the files that I have been using. They are for slackware 11 files. So far I have found that they work better if you extract the files and copy them to the relevent directories rather than using the mkkde program (cant see the difference) but the 'rc.bluetooth start' command works wi...

Made a little bit of progress last night by installing the bluez libs and utils and dbus directly into puppy, rather than installing in the mkkde kde_mini.sfs. The error message went away when I './rc.buetooth start' but there are other errors when I start the 'kbluetoothd' software. ( something abo...

Hi Barry and Lobster. Many thanks for your comments. Please excuse my ignorance regarding terminology but I am kind of new to linux and still trying to learn! and as on one of the previous posts I am too 'blundering around!' It seems that I might of jumped the gun in saying that rfcomm etc were loca...

Bluetooth kernel modules

Just a quick update on the bluetooth modules.

It would seem that you can build part of the bluetooth kernel module by executing

2.12 beta Bluetooth kernel modules

Just wondering if someone can help. I have been testing the 2.12 beta with so far a great deal of success on two old thinkpads (A21m, A21e), I have also been using it in conjunction with some kde apps (mostly for Amarok) and also because my daughter likes the kde desktop. Incidently I have not come ...

Still no joy with Kolourpaint..............not too worried though.
A quick question for MU, do you think it would be possible to use the mkkde program to make a .sfs for Mythtv or is there a better way, and do you think that Puppy would be a suitable Os.

Kde mini in 2.12

Just letting people know that you can make your own Kde_mini work for puppy version 2.12 by using files from Slackware 11.0. You will also need to add 'attr-2.4.32_1-i486-1.tgz' and 'acl-2.2.39_1-i486-1.tgz' to the kde packages that you choose to build. The packages are available at: ftp://ftp.kde.o...

Hi Mark Seen some reports that 1.4.3 may need mysql 5 for the database. Looked at some of the slackware downloads and it looks quite large at 15mb. Also for some of the other mutimedia apps and kde sounds to work i.e juk, noatin etc the 'libesd.so.0' is required. Installed the dotpup and the these a...

Yes 1.4.1 runs perfectly in 2.10, and in 2.11 when you copy the files across. The main difference I can see is that in 1.4.1 when you first start the program it runs a wizard that asks what kind of database you want to use i.e sql lite sql etc (i cant remember exactly) There seems to be no wizard in...

Hi Mark Just wondering if you can help. I have a problem with using Amarok in the 2.11 version of kde-mini. The application starts, runs and plays music ok, but is unable to find any media when I 'rescan collection'. This feature worked ok in your previous version for 2.10 The only difference I see ...

Hi Mark Just thought I would let you know that I tried your mkkde.......Wow! How easy was that! Very cool to just choose the components you want. Have seen that you have created a version of kde-mini for 2.11. Would urge anyone to try this even just for the Amarok player, or give the mkkde a go just...

Looking forward to seeing the kde for 2.11. I am enjoying your Kde mini at the moment although i have not installed it correctly (running in 2.11) Would love to see a mini version for 2.11 Suits me perfectly! One thing I have noticed, and this applies to the previous version also, is that MUT will o...

Re: kde 355.dot

Yes that does the trick! Incidently I have just tried 2.11 and certainly it runs significantly faster on my old Thinkpad. The .sfs file did not work, (showed errors when loading at boot), but copied the mounted files from pup_r03while running in 2.10 to a directory, rebooted into 2.11 and copied tho...

Re:kde355.dot

When booting or rebooting if starting a Kde desktop, the kde355.dot is started automatically in kwrite.
ie when the kde desktop is loading, kwrite starts up and opens kde355.dot.

It works! Made sure that I rebooted after downloading the .sfs file and then installed the dotpups. Maybe the problem previously was that i installed the dotpups before the .sfs file had mounted??? Mighty impressive stuff from you guys! Just one thing though, is there a reason why the kde355.dot fil...
