The new version's installer is not much bigger than the old one (14 MB compared to 13 MB), but I haven't checked out how much bigger that expands to. I'd say it is well worth the trouble to upgrade. 14mb installer  if seamonkey is easy to install into puppy how about not having it in the iso...

Opera looks good, but there are a bunch of add-ons in it I'm not sure I want. yes opera has built-in torrent, rss/news and email clients which you might not want but despite having them it still takes up a few megabytes less hard disk than anything else in its class. Is there an easy way to tell ho...

Re: opera has unmet dependencies?
My problem with Opera is that it will not acknowledge Realplayer 10 and I have to use Seamonkey to listen to the BBC news on it and work with Opera as my main browser. the bbc site pages i view always have a 'listen/view in standalone player' link. click that and realplayer will start up. haven't f...

Hello zwiebug, I'm running Opera 9.21 on my PC and was an easy install. If you download the package from Opera's website, unzip it and copy all the files into a directory it should work. As always with Opera you need to install the qt3.3.6 package as well. This you should be able to get as a dotpup...

Why does Grafpup have a Flash 9 for Opera package then - surely it works? hmm, does it work? i sceptical. had a look at the opera tarball on www.grafpup.org and it looks like it's the shared (qt) version, ergo grafpup has qt installed. i always download the static opera install as puppy never has t...

i should say from the off that this is defo not a dig. im happy with pup - i just think those w/o *nix skills will likely have trouble doing moderately advanced things with puppy. i too sympatise with Gekko. however i *hate* the full-on formal development process (ergo my 9-5 often drives me nuts) b...

an opera puppy could take at least 5mb compressed off the iso size (i roughly calculated about 12mb uncompressed saving iirc around 2.11) the only problem i see with puppy taking on opera is the flash plugin. for some reason flash9 does not work. a puppy-opera iso would need to use flash7 (1mb uncom...

Opera 9.02-static - for content-rich websites and all the browsing goodies and tools. Downside for some - proprietary. Caveat emptor: avoid v9.21 like the plague, unless you have a perverse affection for memory leaks, slowing or stalled browsing and ultimately having X crash. not experienced any of...

thanks Getnikar, that goes someway to providing an answer. the interesting output of my xmodmap -pke starts at 113. have listed the keycodes which have values below. flash7 for opera9
ok here's flash7 (lifted from puppy 2.12) I've knocked up a quick .pup to install it into opera's plugins directory and to update opera6.ini with the path (assumes opera6.ini already has file associations for swf) Script wont do anything if opera is running, if it's not installed somewhere under /us...

Fix Puppy being booted with all it's files in a sub dir. (like /puppy218). This allows booting of many Puppy versions that're on a single partition or CD. remember asking for this when i first joined the forum but 2.16 is further away from this goal than 2.12 the number of related params eg PDEV1, ...

the_unique, sorry not at home for a 2 days otherwise i'd post it here. you can get flash7 from an older puppy, for 2.12 it's /usr/lib/seamonkey-1.0.4/libflashplayer.so To get: download the 2.12 iso (must be a site somewhere with old isos?), use puppy's iso editor to extract the pup_212.sfs file to /...

download http://dotpups.de/dotpups/Internet/FlashforOpera.pup Test Flash Video at http://rhinoweb.us/ this .pup has files in it that are 2 years old so it's prob for installing flash7 and assumes opera is installed a certain way not the current 'opera' way. fine if you are using an old puppy. for 2...

implement the windows key and some common shortcuts to help windoze deserters and mouse haters. eg win key on its own brings up the 'start menu', with M minimises all apps etc... for frugal installs, allow all necessary files (vmlinuz, initrd.gz, pup_218.sfs, zdrv_218.sfs, pup_save.2fs, plus other d...

'_xxx' SFS files that are not for the current version get totally excluded from the left-pane selection list, so you can't load them. I did that deliberately, as my experience is that if people are given the slightest chance to do something wrong, then someone will -- well, most people will realise...
