@ardvark, do you think Lubuntu will run on this PC? It's been hard for me to find a Linux that is not Puppy-based capable of running on it @Everyone else, do you have any idea for a distro that fits closer to home as far as my requirements go, even if it's not Puppy based then? And anyways Macpup lo...

Ideal Pup for an ancient PC and a technophobic family?
Hi everyone, I'm using my old man's first 'modern' laptop (Dell Latitude PP01L, see specs here ) as a media center in our livingroom. Over the years I've been using various official releases of Puppy Linux and it's been an incredible experience - sometimes the old laptop outperforms my daily driver ...

Libreoffice 4.2 Won't run on 5.7 Slacko
Hi! I've installed 4.2 from the PET file in the OP, and at first, puppy alerted me that menu entries do not exist for the application (!). After a reboot, menu entries did appear (with no icons though), but pressing them doesn't do anything. Libreoffice simply won't start, no error message or anythi...

Sorry for the double post, I have an update though; The reboot issue magically fixed itself after I forced shutdown on the laptop (because of another reason, don't worry, I'm usually not too violent on my PCs like that). But the audio still doesn't really work. I tried to edit the files you mentione...

Not sure about the shutdown problem. Is it definitely not responding at all or is it just very slow at saving the session? Did you create a save-file or are you saving to the partition? As for the 2 soundcards problem, sounds like you are trying to use Multiple Sound Card Wizard and that may work (...

Newly frugal-installed Precise Puppy fails to reboot
*Reminder: we're talking about a Frugal install of Precise 5.4.3 here. *Made a frugal install of Puppy on an old Dell laptop with a 20GB HDD, about 18GB are used as ext3/host for Puppy installation, and 1.5GB are used for swap (the laptop has 1GB RAM). *It seems that 2 different audio cards are foun...

Puppy saved our family's first laptop!
Just wanted to thank Barry Kauler and this entire community for a wonderful distribution of Linux. Random details: I'm a 19 year old, and the son of an electrical engineer who tends to use all sorts of technological products to fill his personal and professional needs. Personally, I've been meaning ...
