Some extra information: Recent Puppy Distros use KMS (Kernel Mode Setting) for setting up the initial video resolution. Without a monitor's EDID the KMS seems to fall back to some basic monitor parameters. Instead of the above xorg.config tweak: You could simply turn off the KMS feature by specifyin...

KMS, EDID and KVM Woes
After setting up Macpup529 for a specific requirement I got interested in other Puppy Distros. Simply because Puppy Linux is amazing :D . For my PC setup, the puppy linux distros are locked at a maximum screen resolution of 1024 by 768 (except for Macpup 529). Now I have 2 PC's that are dsub connect...

@foo I am definitely new to Linux and find everything strange, especially the file system presentation. But no problem, I can find my way around computers as long as the gurus don't require me to take too much of a leap. Using the CLI is fine as long as I can find the relevant commands. I have looke...

@ Flash Not so much a question but thanks for the suggestion. A multisession DVD can work for me but still needs similar tweaking. A vanilla puppy multisession dvd saves each session unless you explicitly select not too. This provides opportunity to alter the state of the OS and leaves a saved sessi...

@ bigpup I first asked the macpuppy guy about Xorg and he said it was stock puppy. But maybe this puplet has introduced some bug that the developer is unaware of. Does it still work with the normal puppy linux? If it does then I'll just mention it again on the MacPup forum for further consideration....

How to choose the correct ATI Radeon video driver?
Hi All, I am totally new to Linux and especially Puppy Linux. Been trying lots of different flavours of tiny Linux OS's, to set up a safer online environment (than MS windows). In the end I decided on macpuppy because it looks and works fantastic. I used xorgwizard to set the screen resolution to 19...
