How to install Grub?

I know I could find this somewhere in the forum, but I need some help. I seem to remember when I installed Slacko 5.6 that there were two options for installing grub, now there is only one "Grub for DOS". I do not have windows on my laptop and haven't used it in years. I really am stuck at...

Thank you everybody for your replies. I really appreciate it, but I'm afraid this is a little over my head. I'm use to F4 or F5 to adjust brightness. I just thought there was some GUI interface in a place I wasn't looking. I ran the code in terminal as suggested but could not find a way to copy and ...

Setting Up The Clock

So I am new to Puppy and am using Slacko. My clock is showing military time and I want a 12 hour click that shows AM/PM. I tried to download Pup Clock Set and it opened in a text program and gave me no options. I spent maybe an hour trying to change this. Most distros let you change the properties o...

Updates in Puppy? How to know?

So I am brand new to Puppy, coming over from Mint. I am running Puppy Precise 5.7 and I just wanted to ask how I can tell if updates are available and how to tell if there are any I need.

Thanks! :)

I seem to have everything set up. I am running Puppy Slacko and I can get the date by clicking on the time, but what can I do to show the date all of the time?

Thank you!

Just curious about Puppy's parents

I am new to Puppy, and was wondering if it will always be based on Ubuntu. I know there is a Slackware variant, but the main distro seems to be Ubuntu based.

Thanks.

How does Puppy do updates?

I am new to Puppy and am running Puppy Precise. I was wondering how to check on updates, or if Puppy alerts you automatically when an update is available.

This info is probably somewhere on the site already, so apologies for asking if it is.

Thank you-

Thank you all for your help. I now have AM/PM time. I also wanted to say "thank you" to the developers of this distro. I have tried around 50 distros so far, and I am coming over from Linux Mint. I have to say that the support here is great, and I am now a Puppy convert. Kindest Regards! :D
