Computer will not boot with external hard drive connected
Hi, I set up a frugal install of Puppy 5.2 on it's own dedicated partition then installed Grub4DOS to make a dual boot system. My other OS is Windows 7 Pro. The Grub files were installed to the root of my C drive. It works great except for one problem. When I have my Seagate external USB hard drive ...

I might have finally figured out what it was. I had been running AVG antivirus software. It dawned on me that I had recently upgraded it to a new version. The BSOD problem happened after that. I hadn't considered that before because AVG seems to be coming out with frequent updates and I had never ha...

One of the first things I did was run Windows Checkdisk and it found no problems. So I just tried GParted as you suggested and it also found no problems. I just opened my Windows\Minidump folder and it was empty (I had it set to view hidden files.) I really appreciate all of the effort that you guys...

I bought this computer in November of 2009. It came with WinXP (it had downgrade rights from Vista.) Then in the spring of 2010 a got a Wiin7 disk and upgraded from XP to Win7. It's a 32 bit system. My pagefile is fixed at 3GB. I have 3 GB of RAM. Are you suggesting that I change the pagefile to 4.5...

Will this Windows error affect Puppy too? (solved)
I have a dual boot system with Windows 7 and a frugal install of Puppy 5.2.8. I keep my Puppy files on a separate partition. Lately when running Windows I have been getting an occasional blue screen of death with a "page fault in non paged area" error message. I have tried to troubleshoot ...

That 10 GB of free space is probably outside of the Puppy files. Rather than downloading it in your /root/download folder create a download folder in your /mnt folder and then point Transmission to it. There should be plenty of space for a 1 GB file there. Or you could use your file manager to navig...

Semme, you always seem ready to hep a newbie like me. Thanks a lot. By the way, in case anyone is interested, I also figured out how to add a folder to the Icewm quicklaunch menu. If you want to add the downloads folder to the quicklaunch menu, open the toolbar file in the.icewm folder and add this:...

How to add shortcut to a folder to Icewm quicklaunch button
I'm back with my next question. :-) I figured out how to add and delete shortcuts to programs from the quicklaunch button that sits on the Icewm toolbar. But I can't figure out how to add a shortcut to a folder to quicklaunch. Is there some way to edit the toolbar file in the ,Icewm directory to do ...

Not be be beating a dead horse, but it doesn't play in either Chromium or Firefox. Those are the only two browsers I have to test it on. Chromium puts out an error message and Firefox just puts out a blank black screen when I try to play an M3U file from the Internet. That's with the VLC plugin. The...
