OK before anyone gets excited about what I am doing for my SONAR project, for me it is not about accuracy or, that type of thing but, it is more of a project that will mean I need to learn how to do a graphic screen to show results and how to deal with the sound card etc. It is a project that for me...

Sorry for the long delay in replying but work is hectic at the moment. I have the raspberry Pi's one as NAS server with Samba and one just sat there, but the idea is to use the Thin clients, they are a PC and are typically cheaper to buy. I have installed Code::blocks IDE on my Suse machine and load...

How to program in Linux? (incl. graphicial displays)
It has been a long time since I posted on here and I was very grateful for the assistance I got from the group a few years ago. At the time I was using a HP thin client the HP T5700 as a remote monitor for my Mum when finished it provided her with a pendant that she could press that SMS, family memb...

Hello Solo; I have no problem with the me-tv package, I think? Checks have said there are no missing dependences for the me-tv or the system. My system will not recognize the hardware dvb-usb sticks. even though there is a firmware file for the alfatech dvb-usb-af9015.fw The device works on my other...

Puppy Precise 5.7.1 issues with my usb DVB sticks Me-tv
Long time since last around here, but trying to find use for a HP thin client T5730, the unit has 1Gig flash and 2 Gig ram. I have tried various puppy distro's but all have issues with my hardware. the box has PAE so using 5.7.1 precise and all hardware on the box works, sound, network, screen. So t...

I have not forgotten the group and will get on with more work on the monitor when I can to sort of finish off and present information to others if a similar thing is required. Mum was moved to nursing care on the 21st December. The house is now empty, so the computer allows me to listen in to the ho...

Hi Mike. The reason I use slacko 5.6 was that was the only one of the current Puppy distro's I could get SSH server working. And as people have been kind to assist with the add ons by way of pets the plan is to stay with Puppy, I have been searching on web for a small distro, but many require lots o...

A bit of an update on the previous post first. I found that command line of mplayer with the -nocache option gave as good a delay as amarok on suse. pity I do not seem to be able to remove the minimum 64 K option when in X. Mum is currently in hospital has been since Monday so evenings and weekends ...

Well the monitor was installed today and works, a trial run went OK. I used amarok on a home pc at my end (suse11.4) to listen to the audio as I found this to give the least latency, I have tried puppyradio and it does work but the latency is several seconds probably due to having so much cache for ...

OK I have corrected my spelling, x instead of z. I have gone through several options of adding a 1 to signify runlevel 1, text, single, and a few other things found on general searches. Looking through read me's seems to suggest/sbin init and a few other places before rc.services. I must be thick as...

Boot up options Frugal and Full Install VGA=788 pfix=nox
On a frugal install I have used vga=788 pfix=nox in extlinux.conf This boots to shell and gives me a good screen with decent text size In a full install I entered the similar in the grub menu.lst from kernel /boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/sda1 ro vga=normal to kernel /boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/sda1 ro vga=788...
