How about some dotpups to replace the default icons? It would be nice to be able to click a dotpup and switch to the gnome icons, or noia, or nuoveXT.
The first step would be to map the names puppy uses for icons to the names that gnome and kde use.
Does anyone else like that idea?

I think you are using FreeDOS. Correct. How long is your command? Looks like 87 (not counting the executable name or the space) tiny.exe C:\vmlinuz C:\image.gz root=/dev/ram0 PROOTFS=umsdos PSLEEP=25 PFILE=pup100-none-262144 With 1.0 - 1.2 gujin I don't get the command line arguments error (using s...

Re: Show Puppy version number in start menu
I don't know if anyone has suggested this already but could you include the version number in the Start menu, after the vertical ' Puppy '. How about storing the puppy version number in an environment variable also? Then it could be accessed by programs like torsmo, or displayed as part of the cons...

Why not a later version of Rox?
I notice that puppy is using an older version of Rox filer, is there a reason for not using the latest? Size and speed maybe?

rxvt background
After playing with some other distro's, I got to wondering if rxvt could be semi-transparent. After a bit of reading and googling, I discovered that I could use a .xpm pixmap file as the background. I added an entry to the icewm menu like this: prog "Rxvt bg" mini-sh rxvt -sl 1024 -pixmap ...

My favorite IceWM theme is the BubblyBlue which can be found here:
http://themes.freshmeat.net/projects/bubblyblue/
I am wondering, is there any way to change the appearance of the widgets? (the slider bars, buttons, etc.)

Re: shrinking the puppy
I use puppy on a USB 256Mb device and at present the pup001 file is 186Mb. I don't need all that space right now and it's taking a long time to load and unload. Is there a way I can safely reduce the size of this file and increase it again later if I need the space? Malcolm Hi Malcolm. I just had a...

That happened to me when I did the USB memory stick install. Had the desktop and everything how I liked it, booted it off the USB pen and it was all there. Tried it at work though and I got the initial Live CD puppy, so I assumed that all of the customisation was stored in the pup001 file on my pc ...

1.0.2 won't boot my machine(without some intervention)
I think this is due to the kernel upgrade. All of the other live cd's I have tried that were based on the 2.6 kernels required the "acpi=off" argument to boot, otherwise they would either hang, or continually reboot. Puppy 1.0.2 continually reboots my machine. I was able to hit escape, the...
