Lazy Puppy--you got me there! I meant no HD, not no RAM: acronym mixup! I suppose some people might have figured that out... :) Also, I never said /root/Desktop. Replies like yours are frankly not very helpful for someone who is trying to solve probs with Puppy but is not a computer specialist. Also...

how to remove sfs packages that don't show in SFS-Load?
I'm booting frugal tahr off a flash drive on a laptop with no RAM. I would like to remove a couple sfs packages that I see in the desktop root folder: google_earth_7.1.2.sfs skype-4.3.0.37.sfs The reason I want to do this is because I'm recently having problem accessing CUPS printer interface, and I...

666philb-- Per your suggestion, just reinstalled 1.4.8 in ppm and rebooted. No joy, same 500 error. At same time also uninstalled chrome since that was mentioned as a possible culprit in the thread that bigpup sent. I now understand that your chmod 755 /initrd/pup_rw did work. I see now that it chan...

Hi 666philb and bigpup-- Thanks for recommendations. Tried the chmod 755 /initrd/pup_rw in terminal. Nothing seemed to happen other than another root prompt after I entered. Cups page links still had same 500 problem. Also checked permissions in initrd/pup_rw as per bigpups link and they seemed in o...

tahrpup quit printing
Have been printing fine for 9 months. BTW really been enjoying tahrpup on an old Dell Latitude laptop. It's been very useful and economical for me and family. However, just today, can't print. So I went to the CUPS page, the tab to "Administration", but when clicked it just goes to a "...

setting pup clock
Have searched but not found yet a good step-by-step on how to set the pup clock well. I'm in tahr frugal on usb. The "help" button in "psync time server synchronisation" isn't really a how-to but rather an explanation of how the software works. My pup desk clock shows local time....

Thanks all-- Tried it again using a tahrpup fat32 usb I just made. First tried setting pupX screensaver to 2700 seconds (45 minutes), applied to session, and the darn screen still went out every 600 seconds (the default). Then just disabled screensaver using the checkbox, and now there is no screen ...

Thanks for ideas! Problem is solved. (BTW Tlchost, the domain linuxliveusb.com has not been working today or yesterday.) Regarding the usb booting on dell optiplex 755: Updated bios--didn't help. Tried it with an ext3 formatted usb stick with a single partition--didn't help. Made a fat32 stick singl...
