Well, I copied my 32-bit Vivaldi-portable in its entirety to a USB 3.0 stick, and plugged it in, and ran it from there. As expected, it was indeed quite a demanding task for the old Dell! I have DPup 'Stretch' on there, as well as Slacko 5.6.0. Vivaldi-portable runs OK here, though of course it does...

TBH, having gone through much the same process myself, I can only agree. Case in point; the old Compaq tower. 64-bit, dual-core; Wooo! And 3 GB RAM.... Very, very early 64-bit tech, from 15/16 yrs ago. Essentially a pair of P4s strapped together; no hyperthreading, fairly basic instruction ss...

Hi, Smithy. That 'formula' works very well, too. I forget who told me ( it may even have been Fred! ), but back when I was still running the old Compaq tower, I used it to get the PPM for pemasu's UPup 'Raring' 3992 functional again.....and, with very few exceptions, it worked perfectly. And that wa...

It is interesting reading in this thread, people that have nothing to do with the management or running or ownership of the site are calling for the site to be permanently locked because they want to force evrybody to do what they want. Just what gives anyone besides John Murga the right to lock hi...

Social media overall unnerves me. I signed up for twitter when it first started, thinking it was an open news feed. Dozens of strangers wanted to follow me, so I quit after 2 days. I prefer this focussed, (usually) friendly forum. I wish the PLUG well. Couldn't agree more, oz. Frankly, it freaks me...

@ Semme:- Jeez, but that's one of the messiest looking packages I've seen for a loooong time. Even by Java standards, that is a BEAR..... https://i.postimg.cc/WzHWTYWM/facepalm-small.gif Number 77 will also need Java, 'cos unlike some others I've come across, this one don't contain it. @ number77:- ...

@nic007/musher0:- Look, I'm willing to start to post on the new forum only but it won't serve any purpose if most posters/all posters do not follow. I don't think it's necessary to get all the post contents over to the new forum, a selected few stickies is what I would suggest. Start anew. The old s...

Re: Wifi access point deb file gives no menu entry?
Hello I am running xenial64 on a Dell latitude e6230. I have a Ubiquiti AP AClite WiFi access point and have downloaded a deb file from them. It installs to utility but says there is no menu entry so how would I access the software to control it as it does seem to need the software to be running. A...

Again I am finding people on Facebook who despite trying for weeks can NOT REGISTER. Did they place a request on facebook to be a member here in the forum? I am not on facebook, and I am obviously missing some background info, but why would they do that? How many are we talking about? Can't say for...

New FF-Quantum ESR 'portables'...
Evening, all. Here are the 'portable' versions of the 'new' Firefox Extended Support Release..... v78.01 currently. Same format as usual, as based on Fred's original Firefox-portable packages. Download; unzip; place the directory anywhere you like. Click to open, click 'LAUNCH' to run. The necessary...
