See my post Here about this problem.
I suppose it's time to install a newer version of puppy on a memory stick.

The nice thing about puppy is it requires FAR less maintenance than Windoze. :D

What do you mean by "killed" it? What exactly happened? Would Firefox not start after the update? Did it crash after the update? We currently have 3 threads on this board regarding the problem with FF 73. Who's "we?" Have you started other threads about this problem? http:...

FWIW 2.17 is the latest I see in the Puppy Package Manager.

Oh, I have multiple versions of FF on this machine. I'm using 52.7.0 at the moment.

As a final note, I removed the hard drive and memory, then tossed the Acer NVIDIA ION R1600 in the trash. Hopefully no one ever finds it and tries to revive it. The system was so underpowered it was useless for my purposes. :P I bought the wife a new 65" Toshiba Fire TV and that has eliminated ...

Firefox update killed Firefox

This mornings update to Firefox killed it on my machine. YMMV This is a Frugal install on a 32 gig USB stick. Hardware is an ancient Acer Aspire 5570Z with the 2 gig memory limit. Previous working version of Firefox was 72 something. ▶—— Distro Specifications ——◀ Distro: Slacko Puppy 6.3.0 Window Ma...

I was not aware of bionic puppy until you mentioned it.

Bionic64: hdmi sound works.

Bionic32: hdmi sound works.

Of note, installing the Nvidia 340 driver from the built-in puppy updater causes Bionic64 to crash leaving only a flashing cursor onscreen.

BionicPup32 Xorg Video Wizard

I'm trying to install BionicPup32 on my Acer R1600 doing a Frugal install. Puppy Setup -> Graphics / Screen -> Screen resolution (xrander) I select the desired 1360x768 60.02 resolution and click OK. A yellow box is presented saying Change resolution to: 1360x768@60.02 with the only option being OK....

I realized shortly after my original post this thing has no CD drive. So no live CD option. I did boot off a memory stick configured with Slacko 6.3.0 32-bit. Still no sound with that option. Before I go any further, I'm going to take to my office and plug it into a traditional 15-pin monitor with e...

No HDMI sound from Acer NVIDIA Ion R1600

I've done a full install of Xenialpup64 7.5 on a recently purchased R1600, circa 2009. It connects to my 43" TV set using HDMI. I've found and installed the Nvidia 340 driver. This improved the screen picture but it did not fix the no-sound problem. Any suggestions on where to go from here? Som...

XenialPup 7.5 Pale Moon Browser v27.8.3

If you are running the relatively new XenialPup 7.5 you'll probably want to update the Pale Moon browser. The 27.8.3 release appears to fix a problem that I would describe as a "memory leak" where, if the browser is left running, processor utilization over the course of several hours appro...
