If anyone feels up to it could i request an article outlining the general usage of all the x..drvs eg: adrv, zdrv, fdrv etc? What files would one put where - and why? +1 on this. It certainly needs more attention. BTW, great effort @smokey01. A lot of good reads, considering lenghty hiatus in using...

Hello, Mick and Puppians! Frugal install on HDD, booted with Lilo. Works as advertised. FWIW Slacko64 6.3.0 also boots w/o problem with different BIOS settings, e.g. 'UEFI/Legacy first' with secure boot off . First boot, PUPMODE=5 PUPSFS=sda4,ext3,/slacko64uefi/puppy_slacko64_6.3.0.6.sfs PUPS...

Thanks for chiming in, SFR.

That's exactly what I've done, after numerous attempts with 'Not spam' button.
Dang thing should know better!
When it comes to displaying adds & stuff, yeah, it learns with lightening speed.
Then again, what if I don(ut)ate? :P

Cheers!

Frugal install of Slacko64 (booting with LILO). Woks fine OOTB.

Minor glitch appeared after installing 'rpm2tgz-1.2.2-x86_64-1.txz' from PPM.
Terminal says:

Code: Select all

rpm2tgz vivaldi-beta-1.0.303.52-2.x86_64.rpm
/usr/bin/rpm2tgz: line 253: /sbin/makepkg: No such file or directory
Please advise.
Thanks.

Shame FFTF guys (and others) didn't make it on their quest to prevent
this evil bill becoming a law.
But, it's not over - YET!

That wasn't hard, huh?

Meanwhile, I found 'libphonon.so 4' is missing.
Lib hunting now, will report later.

EDIT: Working fine after installing phonon libs + gstreamer from PPM.

Hi, folks! Anybody running Slacko64 6.3.0? I can't run 'goldendict64 1.50 RC6' portable. After renaming it to 'goldendict' and moving it to /root/my-applications/bin terminal spits out this: # goldendict Cannot open /root/.thumbnails/normal /35ef3ee1f7639d95945854d76f2e3819.png for writing There's n...

Well done, bro!
GTKgetYT works great on Sulu2 (5.2.8.7-June2015).
I guess audio & play scripts will do the trick, too.
Thanks!

Hi, folks. For those interested in using SMplayer & SMtube on older puplets (e.g. updated Sulu2) this version provided by ninotix , works like a charm. No extra libs & things (well, just stripped QT.pet) for Sulu2 (updated version from 6/2015) and Slacko 5.7 (one with non-pae kernel - QT fro...

Nouveau is back!

Hi, folks. After a month of use of nvidia proprietary drivers for Slacko 5.7 provided by CatDude (thanks again, mate!), nouveau rears it's head again! Does this make any sense? :? Thanks for the tip, darkcity. Yes, symlink in ~/.mozilla/plugins/ was broken. One might want to check Java Control Panel-Temporary Internet Files . For some reason, Java wants to use ALL of your disk space for storing temp files by default. I gave it 100MB, should be enough. :D Also, unchecked TLS.1...

Hi, corvus.

Here, read this post carefully and follow mavrothal's instructions.

Keep an eye on kernel versions - modern (with PAE ability) and retro
(non PAE).
You can post your question there eventually.
Cheers!
