I can accept that a menu item won't be created, but surely if someone enters the program name in the command line it should bring up that program and not another one? I'm sure the shortcut 'gimp' was created because many folks look for gimp and don't know the proper command for the graphics editor ...

How do I add puppy to GRUB menu.lst?

I have a hard drive with several linux distros running from a grub boot, and would like to add puppy to my existing /boot/grub/menu.lst file. What would the proper boot stanza consist of? Puppy Newbie here, but doesn't pup create a 256meg file to store settings? If you are using a 200Meg partition, it might be full?

Does that mean that if you already have a grub installation that is booting other distros, that you cannot add puppy to that installs "/boot/grub/menu.lst" so it will be on the grub menu?

"The Linux Cookbook" by carla schroder, from O'Reilly, is new, uptodate and quite good.

To get you started. search the web for "The Rute Book" which is a good intro and is freely available.
