I am also experiencing the same problem.

What is the network address of your wireless router? I presumed that it differs from the one you got from DHCP? You are getting the 169.254.X.X subnet. What is the contents of your /etc/resolv.conf?

Hi tempestuous, I still get the 169.254.X.X IP address. How do you connect to your wireless router manually? I mean, console-based configuration without using the wizard. Please include output of commands (iwlist, iwconfig & etc.) especially dhcpcd. Just for comparison. Maybe I'm missing somethi...

Hi tempestuous, is there any difference in the command dhcpcd eth1 & dhclient eth1 ? Some linux forums say, use dhclient eth1 . Does Puppy have a dhclient PET package ? I still get the IP 169.254.X.X and not giving me a default route & modifying the /etc/resolv.conf file. Looking underneath ...

I'll try that console commands. :-D Thanks.

I even tried using Slackware 12, but still it wont connect. Maybe I have problems with my configurations. Will it help if I post my dmesg results here both from Puppy & Slackware?

I am using 2.17 (boot to usb) in a laptop with a broadcom wifi adapter. I installed latest dhcpd pet package & network wizard pet from this thread. Eth0 & eth1 were detected. eth1 is wireless. Using the updated wizard, auto dhcp is getting a different IP address compared with the ip-address ...

Hi Nathan,

Will Slackware packages (*.tgz) work with your pkgtool? For example, I want to install bind-1.2-i386.tgz or squid-2.4-i386.tgz, will it be compatible with Puppy?

Cheers :-D

Any updates on your onebone? :-)

The reason why 2.12 is slower because it copies pup_212.sfs to tmpfs and it takes about 15s to complete. Since 1.09 CE has nothing to copy to memory, it boots faster.

But the nice thing with Puppy running in RAM, applications are very fast compared to hard drive installed Puppy.

In my experience with Puppy, Full-HD install is faster than Frugal.

Puppy 109 CE - 30s
Compaq Deskpro EN Series
Pentium II/350MHz
96 RAM
128 swap
Full HD install

Puppy 2.12 Final - 45s
IBM 300GL
Pentium III/728MHz
256 RAM
Frugal install

Same thing, MUT mounts ntfs on /mnt/dev_save without the initrd at the beginning. Rox would have trouble with that. In vfat there's no p...
