How to install the Guest Additions in Fatdog64
Ok, I compiled the Virtualbox Guest Additions and they seem seem to work nicely. Now my virtual Fatdog has shared folders, shared clipboard, 3d accelerated video and all the bells and whistles :) However just choosing "Install Guest Addition" from the virtualbox pulldown does not do anythi...

Just installed Fatdog 611 under Virtualbox 2.4.6. Bottom line, Fatdog it is downright awesome 8) In the virtual machine I set up (2 cores, 1024 Mb RAM) Fatdog works great, it is lightning fast, and on top of that mouse support under Virtualbox is downright perfect - actually I had full seamless mous...

Just an update: I tested Fatdog64 6.11 under Virtualbox 4.2.6 and now mouse integration works like a charm, even without the Guest Additions . Actually I just realized that not only the mouse is not broken anymore, but now the mouse cursor moves seamlessly between host and guest, it is not necessary...

I am posting from my 701 running puppeee... the fan hasn't been running for some months, either because it's broken or because of something I did with the control panel (I did not disable the fan or change the tresholds though). However the eee seems to be working fine, if somewhat hot (cpu temp is ...

Precise Mate is working very well on my Toshiba laptop - Mate is gorgeous and all the hardware works as expected (ok, I didn't test the webcam yet, but it doesn't work out of the box with any linux and even in Windows it's not that great either) 8) Some things I noticed on my machine: 1) gparted cra...

I'm assuming you did try the vitualbox sfs from the repo? No, that's for running other OSes inside Puppy, and I am sure it's ok . (works fine on puppeee, btw ;) ). What I'm trying to do is running Saluki as a guest, ie inside another OS (at the moment I am using Win64, but could be anything else). ...

Virtualbox progress
I recreated the virtual machine from scratch, and reinstalled Saluki. It seems that when installing under Virtualbox Saluki chooses to run in Vesa mode (no X). It also starts @ 1600x1200 which is a sort of pain for those of us that have smaller monitor, but this is fixable in the first run dialog). ...

Virtualbox guest
Tried Saluki under Virtualbox. Without the Virtualbox Guest Additions it is usable - the only catch is to disable Mouse Integration from the virtual machine dropdown menu. However the Guest Addition installation fails in a new and unexpected way (with other Puppies it usually complains about not bee...

Wary 5.2.90 as Virtualbox guest
I installed Wary 5.2.90 under Virtualbox 4.1.10. I choose Wary instead of Racy because the emulated hardware in Virtualbox is nothing to write home about, and the lower resource usage of Wary doesn't hurt either. Only problem I had was xorgwizard crashing to a black screen trying to start X (which i...

Virtualbox test
Tried running Slacko 533 as a guest in Virtualbox 4.1.10. The VM I created had 1024 Mb RAM, 128 Mb video RAM, hardware virtualization turned off (because it didn't work for me when running other distros with 3.* kernels such as Mint 12), and PAE enabled (because I had downloaded the PAE iso, which w...

The Ubuntu forum wouldn't help much, I'm afraid. Puppy can install Ubuntu package but is a different sort of beast and has its own strangeness which Ubuntu users aren't familiar with. Maybe the virtualbox forum would be a better place to ask questions... ;) For what's worth here is how I manage to c...

I've been running some other tests, just to make sure of my mental sanity, since I am pretty sure that mouse integration had been working for me. Trying out Startmount with Lucid 5.20. I plan to use it with SpiderOak and Transmisson, both of which require exactly the Startmount operation esquence: make the data folders available so the program won't act weird, wait for the machine to go online, then start the application. Mounting drives work...

1) Create a text file named /etc/resolv.conf.head 2) Put the alternative nameservers in that file, making sure that the last line ended with a line break.
