It's not very large and it is portable, so I wouldn't do anything special: just extract the jre1.8.*.tar from oracle and add jre1.8.*/bin to $PATH. You -might- have to do more to get java embedded in browsers working, but iirc seamonkey (and mainstream browsers) "just work".

It's inconceivable that we could just sit back and let these groups carry out the actions they intend. I don't think the psychologist's solution is an acceptable one. However, they have done a very good job of identifying the problem. These groups form in and thrive on adversity, yet they certainly ...

devx installation immediately after 7.1 to 7.2 service pack installation seems to cause problems, but in all other situations so far it goes as expected. I bet there would be problems if you move a full USB installation including /boot to a different drive, but for the most part Quirky is mobile. I ...

Hi Newronilz, Something similar happened to me when I installed devx after a 7.041->7.2 update. I didn't bother to diagnose the problem -- I assumed it was general system mangling due to installing from ibiblio without the patch, see the OP -- but I did notice that at least one crucial folder was mi...

Very excited to give this a go! I hope I'll find time this weekend. Otherwise I'll just have to accept that I will miss out on the bugs ;)
Are there any changes (eg., to devx library versions) which might upset my Quirky7.2 .pets? I've built some finicky packages which I need for work.

I've found some evidence towards the theory that PCI-E Mini cards have communication issues with Quirky... using such a card to provide a USB3.0 port, my devices are only recognized if the card AND the device is installed at boot. Removing the card or the device from the card requires a reboot befor...

Hi Starhawk, That sounds like a hardware/network issue to me. We see similar symptoms using a new network at my University: all flavours of linux, android, mac and windows report successful connection erroneously. It seems that the network has a tendency to accept credentials -- which tells wizards ...

I had the same problem as DanielSong. I had missed the note about ibiblio and updated devx immediately after upgrading, and many crucial directories vanished including /etc/X11 (hence the missing xorg config!) I assumed the problem was indeed the devx upgrade sans-ibiblio patch but I wasn't sure so ...

That did the trick, thanks. Isn't this usually handled by ldconfig?

Ok, the link works now, and I installed the hplip .pet. The hp-toolbox utilities still don't work ("ImportError: No module named cupsext") but if they're expected to then the fault may be mine: I have a python distribution pretty early in my PATH.

Excellent, thank you Barry! With the Maxwell support in the new kernel's nouveaux driver I should be able to kiss my hacky intel+proprietary nVidia dual GLX mess goodbye :D I took the opportunity to refresh my system and my various messy packages installed and run without a hitch! I'm looking forwar...

So my gtkdialog is version 0.8.3. According to the PPM, I should have 0.8.4 rc514 built-in. I'll set gtkdialog straight and report back.

Edit: Ouch, gtkdialog is not worth messing with without a CLI for the PPM. I've installed pMusic 3.3.0 and it works great. I'll just stick with it for now.

It seems the error was being thrown by pEqualizer. I uninstalled pEqualizaer and reinstalled pMusic, and now it fails with

Code: Select all

$GTKDIALOG -f $WORKDIR/xml_pmusic${XML_SUFFIX} -G +"$X"+"$Y" 2> $STDERR &

I'm running April64. The LADSPA CAPS package isn't in the package manager or on the system, so pMusic fails to start; it "can't find /usr/lib/ladspa/caps.so". I installed CAPS 9.24 from source but now pMusic fails with "Unable to find label 'Eq' in plugin library file /usr/lib/ladspa/...

I have a 128GB USB2.0 flash stick running Quirky. Quirky both installs to and boots from the stick and recognizes the stick when I put it in a machine running Quirky. I've not had any problems. Have you tried them in a different computer?

Looks great! I think I'll move over from April 7.041. I have some apps and tools built specifically for April which I rely on though (can't forego Awesome WM). Will my .pet's work ootb in Appril? Any changes to devx or system I might stumble over? Any changes to the kernel? I have an nvidia Maxwell ...

AwesomeWM

I just finished building AwesomeWM 3.5.6 for Quirky 7.041. It wasn't easy... I built it for Lua 5.1 but it should build on the Lua 5.2 package in the Quirky repo if you'd prefer. Runtime requirements include the lua lgi module and Pango built with introspection (and hence GObject-Introspection as we...

Hi Juliemac! Puppy should have the xrandr utility built-in (my Quirky does). You can use it to configure your monitors; see https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Multihead#Configuration_using_xrandr for a brief tutorial. Just execute xrandr without arguments to get the names of your monitors and then...
