First of all, cool program...check out the hardware specs on the FreekBox. I wonder if a Puppy wouldn't be a better solution.

Puppy on DL.TV

Just thought I would make it known that Puppy got some mention from Roger Chang on DL.TV. (for those if you who know what that is). Episode 191.

Unfortunately I had to watch it via XP, as Miro (formerly known as "Democracy Player") is my preferred pod-vid-cast-catcher-thing.

VMware will run under Linux, but has someone tried this under Puppy, or even :D created a dotpup for it?

Democracy Player

I don't see any newer discussions re: Democracy Player.

"At some point later it may be a good app., but for now it looks to be alpha."

Actually, a pretty stable app in winxp -- I use it regularly and would love to be able to run it in Puppy.

At dotpup would be cool.

Hi Barry, I see that changes has been made in 2.14 to include 1680x1050, and it does the same thing as when I edited the xorgwizard file as you suggested below earlier: namely, it will prompt me to choose 1680x1050, but doesn't really run X at that resolution, instead it just automatically reverts ...

Well I just want the pci-id of your Marvell Yukon LAN device, so if you can identify that one that's fine. But if you can't identify the relevant pci-id, then yes, I need to see it all. You should just be able to paste the text. I should mention that I now am using 2.14 Here's everything: 00:00.0 C...

You still haven't posted your results from "lspci". It would take just 30 seconds.
Do you need the results in their entirety?

I hadn't even gotten to the point before of concerning myself with getting a wifi connection working; problem was getting Puppy to recognize onboard ethernet.

Will have a go at it again soon and report back.

If still no success, please run "lspci" and post your results. This will list all pci device ID's on your system, and should include the pci-id of your Marvell chipset. It's possible that this pci-id might not be included in the source code for the driver, and this can be fixed. Back home...

FWIW, my BIOS actually lists "USB Stick" in the boot priority list , but DOES NOT support booting from said device.

Some diagnosis is needed. After "modprobe sk98lin" run "ifconfig" to see if a valid network interface is listed. Will do as soon as I burn another boot disk. This is the 4th one I've hosed trying to create a multi-session disk (I erased the save file on my hard drive because of ...

I installed the dotpup and issued the appropriate commands. Wizard still says... "...it appears the driver module for an ethernet card isn't loaded..." ...before reboot. Do I need to reboot after the installation? Because the other issue is I'm not being prompted to save the session to the...

rmmod sky2
modprobe sk98lin
Didn't work unfortunately.

I downloaded the files. The "readme" made my eyes bleed.

Let's see...not sure what to initially do with that .bz2

This leaves two options: Disable onboard NICs in BIOS and/or insert a new card with known drivers or Try every driver ever issued, including, for Linux, those that appear to be branded by another foundry, recompiling where necessary. I'm currently browsing with the Zenlive live cd ... no problems whatsoever. USB mouse works, sound works, and it has no problems with my NIC.

So, I guess that eliminates some possible issues.

Any thoughts?

For a number of reasons, I would rather use Puppy.
