Have you tried it? Does it build from source?

This has been observed by others before. Posted somewhere on this forum itself. I could not locate it by searching although i remember reading it before. Most likely in the thread dealing with nVidia drivers.

Mouse pointer AWOL

Have a hard disk install of Puppy 2.16 just downloaded and booted off 2.17 in RAM. Selected Xorg, 1024x768 resolution. Boots into a superb looking desktop sans the wavy effect of Xvesa but there is no mouse pointer. So I dont know where is the focus at present. I know the mouse is working because wh...

REQUEST: Updated nVidia driver dotpup

Hi, I have tried the existing nVidia driver dotpup but on 2.16 in my machine it seems to produce garbage and I have only the Generic driver with low screen refresh rate. It used to work flawlessly until 2.15 I guess or was it 2.14? May be some thing changed in 2.16 thats causing this? May someone wi...

Something is fishy :-( I cannot get dotpups.de by direct browsing and ping leads to 100% packet loss. However through anonymous browsing services provided online by metaproxy, I can access it but am unable to download anything cause they wont allow it free. This means somebody is willfully blocking ...

By the way, both domains are not reachable, at least here in India. Can you please try and let me know if you can open those two sites?

Thanks,

Both mirrors seem to be down at the moment :-(
But if it is an ISO to replace standard Puppy ISO I would be disappointed as I cannot use it everyday, cause I use a full hard disk install :-(
Will see once the mirrors are working again.
Seems beautiful looking at the shots posted.
Thanks,

Asus M2NPV-VM onboard sound doesn't work in 2.16 & 2.17 too

I have ASUS M2NPV-VM motherboard with integrated sound/video now at 2.16 Puppy. On this computer I have never managed to get sound working though I have tried a few basics. On the same PC, PCLinuxOS2007 and Ubuntu 7.04 get sound by default without any downloads. Is there any way to know how they do ...

That is exactly right. Even for a regular user like me, if Puppy offers to mount the freshly inserted media with a single click, i would prefer that anyday! :-)

As far as i know Firefox can pause and restart downloads (did not work perfectly in my experience) during the same session, but cannot resume once you shutdown. They are planning that feature in a future version though.

Thanks [MU] for your .pup. The screen flicker is completely gone and i am enjoying Puppy even better. I dont know if this is the right place, but while on PCLinuxOS, when i installed nVidia (the .run file from their official website) it gave me both graphics and sound. But here in Puppy my computer ...

I have a harddrive install with the devx_*** file in the / and /root directories (i could not figure out the exact location for that) but it does not seem to be read/considered by the booting Puppy???
So I have to go after individual libraries?

Do you know why it is not being read?

What is 'ld' command and how to install 'binutils' package?

In my quest towards installing nvidia drivers, i have crossed the first hurdle by managing to install the ldconfig command/utility. Now the next challenge being thrown is about this 'ld' command. Which nvidia tells me will be magically available if i install the 'binutilis'. As usual i could not fig...

Thanks buddy. It now works.
However i find that it is not exactly what i want.

To date the best book reader i have come across for .txt books is SpaceJock's yBook URL:http://www.spacejock.com/pad/

However it is Windows only :-(
