That Works OscarTalks, thanks.

I wonder if they could have made the procedure more obscure, or hidden it better? I doubt it, though.

How do I make a symlink with Thunar? (Solved)

Can someone explain how to make a symlink using Thunar? I've tried inserting the code from the Saluki thread, and from the web, but it still only copies the original file into the target directory.

Clicking on make symlink in the drop down menu does nothing that I can see.

Thanks

Mine Works Too!

Thank you Jemimah,

The pupsave is not saved on shutdown, however. If you are going to fix it, would it be possible to include the ability to re-size it as well as save it?

Just asking, I have no idea how it would be accomplished.

Thanks again for your effort and help.

File System

Jemimah, The frugal is on a FAT32 partition in its own subdirectory. The 2fs is the extension of the automatically generated pupsave file. I don't know if it's actually an ext2 file, but I presume it is. It's whatever Puppy creates. Since I'm also using the psubdir command, that's a likely place to ...

I've Got The Same Problem

Jemimah, I thought it was just me. I have exactly the same problem. Machine is a P4, 2 gig Ram, Intel D865GBF Mobo, ATI x1650 video card. Puppy 4.3.1 frugal. I've made a save file by booting from the RamBoot Initrd.gz but started with Pfix=Ram and then saved. Get exactly the same result when I boot ...

ATI X1650 Dual Screen

I've been successful in making this card work with Puppy in the past, but no joy with 4.3.1. Machine is a P4 on an Intel D865GBF MoBo with 2 gig memory. Using two LCD displays fed via DVI. Works in XP and earlier versions of Puppy. I've tried the various Catalyst drivers from ATI and the versions fr...

It Works

Thank you Disciple.

Not very elegant or convenient, but it does work and that solved my problem. Wish it was within my technical competence to fix this annoying little detail, but I'm a long, long way short of that.

Thanks again.

Need To Adjust App Display Size

Running small version of Puppy 4.3 and it works great. BUT, some applications, like pnethood, display larger than the screen and I cannot re-size them with the usual click and drag method. So, can someone tell me how to change the size of the display window, or what determines the window size an app...

Hi Kenny M

The Gpup discussion is here: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=36602

Better information that I can give you, I'm just a Linux dabbler.

Hello Kenny M

My box has a re-set button. Using Gpup 1.1 Browsing with Firefox is fine, don't do streaming video so I can't answer that one. YMMV = Your Mileage May Vary Also, running another dual-core Atom box with an Intel D945GCLF2 Mobo and one of the Puppies (don't recall which one) with SMP enabled. Works fi...

Foxconn R10-S4

I have the R10-S4 version of this and it runs G-Pup just fine. Don't recall having to do anything special, but it's been a while since I set it up.

YMMV, but the R10 version of this box works OK.

Don922, You are not limited to Navy/Yellow, those are just my preferences. Go to: http://mkaz.com/ref/xterm_colors.html to see a whole list of colors that "should" be available. No guarantees, I have not tried them. Just replace "navy" and "yellow" with whatever appeals...

In most Puppy versions the rxvt display parameters are found in .Xdefaults in the root directory. You need to set the ROX options to show hidden files to see it. Placing the lines shown here at the end (I generally start by editing the last one in the original and then adding the other two) produces...

Found It

Pizzasgood, The comment about moving PCMCIA files was in /etc/rc.d/README-pcmcia.txt. I thought I'd imagined it, but finally found it. Here's what it said: The pcmcia_cs package normally has /etc/rc.d/pcmcia script, however, I have extracted the functionality of the script to /etc/rc.d/rc.modules to...

PCMCIA Problem

Pizzasgood, I found the comment about moving the files in a note you'd left in one of the scripts. I don´t now enough to make that kind of stuff up. Ran uname and got the correct version in response. Checked the wireless configuration and it is identical in both. Only someone who had never made a du...
