I've discovered that a lone SATA CD drive is not visible in pmount. An IDE CD drive is, and if it is present, the SATA one is visible too.

I have the same problem with tahrpup 6.0.5, but only on VirtualBox. I'll start a new thread for that. (This is an edit. I wanted to delete the post, but apparently cannot.)
