Need a Puppy for a Gateway LT 2032u netbook

I'll have to try this "fixmenus". What version of linux commands does PL use. It's not Debian or bash.

How to remove uninstalled apps from Unicornpup 6.0 Menu?

Been playing around with this Unicornpup 6.0 (was the only distro that would install on my Inspiron 700m). I've used the uninstall program feature but notice the program still shows in the menu. What's the best way to remove the shovelware in this distro and have the menu reflect the change?

Looking for some appz

I'm using Unicorn v6.0. What appz would allow me to rip regular CDs and convert them to mp3s? Also is there an app that'll convert video files into a playable DVD? Thanks.

Is there another download link somewhere for this "unicornpup". Dropbox keeps stalling on me. Never did buy into this whole "cloud" thing anyway.

Will do. I must say I've never had a problem with dialup, wifi or ethernet with PL. It has certainly solved that issue. Thanks for the responses.

Yeah, I guess I'm fikled that way. I try PL, decide it's too much trouble then drop it for another two years. I keep trying to find a Linux distro that as easy to use as WinXP. Elementary OS is close but requires a ton of tweaking.

Does the Barebones PL have an appz uninstaller as well? I can see some appz in it I don't need. I used WinXP N which didn't come with IE. The few other appz you mentioned I did use. Small number compared to Linux which caters to the "more is more" crowd.

Is there a PL without all the appz?

The main reason I've always liked Windows is because MS just gives you the os. You can add the appz you want, whereas Linux is just the opposite. It gives you a bunch of appz you'll never use. PL has to be the worst example of that feature. PL would be a good replacement for my old WinXP P4 machines...

How to install Lina-Lite with bootloader & Firefox?

One of my biggest problems with Linux is all the installed programs that I'll never use. Carolina Lite and Lina-Lite look perfect but I notice they don't come with a boot loader or Firefox. I'll need Firefox to log into the internet since I use it off site. Anyone know where I can download .pet copi...

Yeah, I selected the full and not the frugal during the install. I'm not able to unmount the drive. I found that if I didn't select the lupusave.2fs file, the external HDD woudn't save my changes..

Personal storage getting full

Why am I getting "WARNING: Personal storage getting full, strongly recommend you resize it or delete files" message? I've got a 60GB HDD and just installed PL 528 on it.

I did a full install, how do I get rid of this "lupu-save.2fs" partition and just merge it into this HDD?

I did a full install on the flash drive. I did have to set up the save settings feature on a separate ext2 partition in order to save my changes though.

How would I create a backup image of PL 5.2.8

I recently installed PL 5.2.8 onto an old Dell Inspiron 700m laptop. I had to install it onto a small 16GB flash drive because I kept getting a "PRIMARY HARD DRIVE NOT FOUND", message and just couldn't fix it. Is there a way to create a backup image onto a CD/DVD in case this setup should ...

I recently installed Puppy Linux 5.2.8 on an old Dell Inspiron 700m laptop. I'm so used to Linux Mint and Debian commands, I keep getting "Command not found" when I try using them in PL. Is there a book or online reference for Busybox that I could use to learn BB commands? Thanks.

How do you download a file to sdb1 or sdc1 in Puppy?

I'm using Firefox 22 in PL 528. I've created a download file in the home directory but how would I download a file to a flash drive that Puppy mounts as sdb1 or sdc1?

Keyboard problem with Wary 5.5

I installed Wary PL 5.5 on an old Dell Inspiron 700m which has a Pentium M CPU. Everything runs fine except when I try typing something the keyboard letters are all messed up. Went through setup and configured the keyboard for US English, rebooted, but nothing seems to work. I partitioned this distr...
