ICPUG & MU, Thanks for the answer to this problem... The list of errors you received were exactly the same as what I was experiencing. I'll give the fix in the referred to url a shot later, when I have a chance.

Thanks again,
Hank

I had a chance to try the updated installer with Chubby Puppy and here's what I saw: - With Chubby Puppy without the patch, it loaded, but screamed at me that the USB drivers didn't load. From the desktop, couldn't use my usb mouse nor was my USB drive recognized. - Ran the patch and then rebooted. ...

I grabbed the new install, but I don't have time to test it out right now... I'll try to test it later this evening.

Problems booting Chubby from WinXP

Hi,
I've downloaded chubby 105 and have followed tempestuous's guidelines for running puppy from NTFS partition and had problems on the boot, namely the usb drivers won't load. Anyone else having the same problem?

I cleaned out everything and started again. This time everything worked out just fine. I think what happen was that when I aborted the download that the installer was attempting to perform, it did a partial extraction and then left some files laying around which I didn't get cleaned up before attemp...

I tried the installer also and had problems with the download (hung at 20 some %). So I manually downloaded the iso and put it in the proper folder and completed the installer steps. I, too, was left at the grub prompt (able to type) like Allan and docmann. I modified the menu.lst file to match the ...

Glad to hear that you got it working, Peter! I have just two comments on your post: I used the USB drive to retain the pup file and, thus, have everything return on startup, but after your last post, I tried using just a liveCD (no permanent pupfile) and had no problem untarring the files to the etc...

For what it's worth, the ping issue could be due to location. I live in Central America and the way things are configured here, most likely with my internet provider, I can't ping anything beyond the name servers of my provider. In Windows you can see if this is your problem by opening a dos window ...

Hi Peter, Just a reminder that I am no expert, just a newbie wanting to help, so forgive me if I say something really basic or *stupid*. :-) I would like to verify that you are trying to install the ipw2200 zip file that tempestuous put together. If, so, then given that you are booting from the 1.0....

ipw2200 drivers works!

I wanted to let readers of this forum know that tempestuous has been helping me (really doing all the work, while I have been testing) get the Intel/PRO 2200BG card in my laptop to function using the ipw2200 drivers and a few other support files. More to come.... :D

Using the flash drive in this manner is really more of a temporary thing. Without making a change to the hard drive on my work computer, it was the only way that I could find to create a consistently bootable environment that would store my changes while trying to get my network card to function. An...

Hey!

I'm a newbie to linux, so I might need some hand-holding to sort out the issues if I run into any, but I'm more than willing to give it a go! I have a HP/Compaq nc6000 with Intel/PRO 2200BG that I would love to get working. I'll post my results when I get a chance to test it out.

Hi Flash, Guest Thanks for the suggestions. I tried something a little different by creating a CD from 1.0.5alpha2, choosing no startup option and then when given the prompt to enter sda1 for creating my pup file on a the usb, it loads up the drivers and creates the file on my usb drive! I then look...

With the USB stick plugged in at boot, I've tried entering sda1 for the usb drive, but it can't be found. I'm assuming that the drivers aren't loaded/drive not mounted yet. Also, modifying the rc.sysint leaves me in the same position as at the start because I can't get the multisession cd to write p...

Booting from CD, data on USB, nothing on HD

Hi, I've been playing around with puppy on my laptop (WinXP with NTFS), mainly trying to get my wireless to work (Intel/PRO 220BG, but that's something else entirely :-)). I would try booting from USB, but that's not an option in my BIOS (compaq nc6000) and I don't really want to put anything on the...

I've tried burning a fresh cd with 1.0.4 and booted to it. Mounted a usb stick with various files, including bladehunter's wifi-1.0.4-beta-2.pup. I click on the pup file to install it and then in rvxt ran 'modprobe ndiswrapper.' My wireless light turned on and the computer froze. I redid this sequen...
