limited success with 3.01

I have been playing with this lately with a 2.5" external drive - usb. First thing I noticed is that on boot up pretty much every time I need to go into the bios and make sure that the external drive is listed first in the hard drive list because on several computers I have noticed that on rebo...

rollback/ change ndiswrapper version

I have a Linksys WPC54G v4 pcmcia card - the only version that does NOT use the broadcom driver that is pre installed in most versions of puppy. I am able to get it working using the driver referred to on the ndiswrapper website in puppy 301 but not in any other so I am assuming it is a problem with...

Another way

I would prefer a straight up applet/ widget (a .pet would be awesome!) but a quick easy solution is opera widgets. The downside of course is that the opera browser has to be 'running' and you end up with a VERY crowded taskbar but it works!

GKrellM in 301 via GSlapt

I really like GKrellM and have been having a lot of trouble getting it to work in Puppy 301 with the dotpup (kept getting md5sum error) and Gslapt (kept getting dependency error) until last night, and of course the solution is very simple. Via Gslapt download and install gkrellm, and then download a...

I use 3.01 with a frugal install and the corresponding sfs files (noted in the original post). I also use it within a virtual machine (virtual box inside vmware just for the fun of it!) and since retro puppy only works there I use the 2.16 SFS kernel AND devx renamed to 301 and that worked for me. W...

Considering that so many pups from this forum link to that site does that mean that those pups are corrupt? That was how I originally discovered the problem - I was unable to access the Flash9.pup referred to on the Puppy3 wiki page. Also, I guess that means that having Firefox with NoScript is doin...

obvious is always good... but it is the same with my frugal install at home and running from a usb at work. Oh well, not that hard to switch if I need something just wanted to put it out there if anyone else was having troubles....

dotpups.de and firefox: problem?

I thought dotpups.de was down until I checked it at work using ie and found it to be there. Back to firefox and I get the same blank screen. Is this on purpose or just a glitch?

Fantastic!!!

Running like a dream... and a dream come true. This new feature of VBox is beautiful for those of us that live in a house that can't give up on Windows. To be honest I use some flash programs myself... Anyhoo this is a great thing and I thank you for it. FYI.. When running Puppy 3+ in a virtual mach...

SSHD?

Thanks so much for this. Compiled and installed beautifully on 215CE.
How do I get the server running? I can find sshd-config but can't figure out a way to make it go?
yes I am new to linux and enjoying it. I am sure it is something quite simple!
Thanks again for this little gem.

I had to add some directories, which I got from another post: /etc/rc.d/rc0.d /etc/rc.d/rc1.d /etc/rc.d/rc2.d /etc/rc.d/rc3.d /etc/rc.d/rc4.d /etc/rc.d/rc5.d /etc/rc.d/rc6.d /etc/pam.d it finally works, thanks to your code work. I am about as noob as it gets so if you made it so I could work it you ...

Puppy and VirtualBox a perfect combination

I have been using Puppy 2.14 in Virtual Box with XP as a host and I really like it. I can play with puppy while leaving XP untouched and therefore not invoking the usual complaints from my wife when I 'keep changing things around.' So now I can play to my hearts content and I am a newbie noob to say...
